HE WENT TO THE MUSLIM SULTAN TO CONVERT HIM

HE WENT TO THE MUSLIM SULTAN TO CONVERT HIM

Today is the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, San Francesco da Assisi. Patron saint of Italy.

The secular newspapers will carry reports of the saint of the environment, lover of animals, in unity with the cosmos.

It’s difficult for them to say that he had the stigmata of Jesus. On his death bed he told his community to remember the fear of God.

He was a son of the Church. The Catholic Church.

He had the highest experiences of being in Union with God-within the Catholic Church.

And he bravely went to Jerusalem and told the Muslim Sultan that he needed to convert.

He prophesized that the Sultan would convert on his death bed.

There were four Franciscan brothers who baptized the Sultan on his death bed.

Francis lived poverty-poverty. Not the different types of poverty we see today and the alleged ‘variations’.

Poverty is sacred. Poverty is Holy. Poverty is the place to be meet the Beloved.

He loved the earth and he loved God.

He loved all creatures and seemed one with the universe and all nature.

He taught a strict version of extra ecclesiam nulla salus.
