DON VALERIO BARESI AFFIRMS STRICT INTERPRETATION OF EXTRA ECCLESIAM NULLA SALUS

“Convert and believe in the Gospel” said the Parish Priest in Italian as he placed ash above my forehead at the 6 p.m Mass yesterday at the Basilica Sacro Cuore di Gesu, Via Marsala near Termini. After Mass I went into the sacristy and met the Parish Priest Father Valerio Baresi, a Salesian of Don Bosco.

I introduced myself and said: “You said convert and believe in the Gospel”. He smiled and nodded.
I said, “For me the Gospel is Mark 16:16: ‘those who do not believe will be condemned’ He smiled and nodded in agreement.
“I also believe in the ex cathedra dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. It means everyone needs to enter the Catholic Church with no exceptions for salvation.", I continued.
"This is the Gospel for me", I added. He smiled and nodded in agreement.
"And also for you?", I asked.
"Yes", he said.
I asked him his name. “Valerio”, he replied. We shook hands both happy and joyful and I left.

So - now if anyone of you (readers) would like to throw stones at Fr. Valerio in the name of Vatican Council II, there is no text to support your heresy, so, ‘Convert and believe in the Gospel!’

If you think I am a heretic because I do not affirm the text (exactly like you) which says a person with a good conscience or in invincible ignorance can be saved, I would say: “I am aware of the text in Vatican Council II, I affirm it, I only interpret it differently from you.It is the difference between salvation which is de facto (your interpretation) and dejure salvation (my interpretation).
So if there are two interpretations of the text then it means the actual text does not say
1) De facto those in invincible ignorance etc do not have to enter the Catholic Church for salvation.

2) De jure (in concept) those in invincible ignorance can be saved, they unknown to us and can only be judged by God.

So there is no actual text in Vatican Council II to support position 1 or 2.

So what do we do?

Find the answer in Sacred Tradition!
Interpret Vatican Council II according to Sacred Tradition!
Interpret Vatican Council II according the ex cathedra dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus.

So if you say that I need to accept that people in invincible ignorance, with the baptism of desire or a good conscience can be saved without the Sacraments, I would say: “I do believe "– but de jure, as a concept, an intellectual possibility, as a possibility known only to God.

So if someone insists that Vatican Council IIis a negation of the ex cathedra dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus show him this:

VATICAN COUNCIL II SAYS OUTSIDE THE CATHOLIC CHURCH THERE IS NO SALVATION
Vatican Council II says outside the Catholic Church there is no salvation. Extra ecclesiam nulla salus.
The Catholic Church teaches after Vatican Council II (1965) that all people need to enter the Catholic Church to go to Heaven (Ad Gentes 7, Vatican Council II).
Catholic Faith with the Baptism of water is the normal, ordinary way of salvation for all people (Lumen Gentium 14, Vatican Council II).The Catholic Church is the ordinary way of salvation for all people (Lumen Gentium 14).Non Catholics however can be saved through the extraordinary means of salvation (Lumen Gentium 16).Only God knows who are the non-Catholics saved through the extraordinary means of salvation; the exceptions. We do not know who the exceptions are. We cannot judge. Jesus, the Church, Scripture and Vatican Council II indicate that the priority is Catholic Faith and the Baptism of water for all people…(1)
If someone says that he cannot eveangelize in Rome or Boston or wherever because he does not know who is in invincible  ignorance and who is not, show him this:

Dr. Scott Hahn, Founder, President and Chairman of the Board of The St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, is one of the world’s most successful Catholic authors and teachers.Dr. Scott Hahn has answered the following three questions with an ‘overwhelming YES’.

1) Does the Catholic Church teach that non Catholic religions, Hindus, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam etc are not paths to salvation (to go to Heaven and avoid Hell)? Yes.
2) Does the Catholic Church teach that Catholic Faith and the Baptism of water are needed for all people in general, barring the exceptions (invincible ignorance ), for salvation? Yes.
3) When you meet a Jew in Boston can you tell him or her that he or she needs Catholic Faith and the Baptism of water to go to Heaven and avoid Hell? Yes.

The Introduction of Dominus Iesus uses the words ‘de facto’ and ‘dejure’. If we use it as key then Church documents become clear- also Vatican Council II

So finally those of you who still say Vatican Council says those in invincible ignorance etc are de facto saved have a problem.
Here is someone who acknowledges these references in Vatican Council II but says it refers to de jure salvation.
So how are you going to prove me wrong?
There is no specific text to support you .All you have is an interpretation - your personal one.
So?
Convert and believe in the Gospel!

(1) VATICAN COUNCIL II SAYS OUTSIDE THE CATHOLIC CHURCH THERE IS NO SALVATION

Jesus, the Church, Scripture and Vatican Council II indicate that the priority is Catholic Faith and the Baptism of water for all people.(1)

So everyone needs to enter the Catholic Church which is the like the only Ark of Noah that saves in the Flood (CCC).Non Catholic religions have good things in them. However they are not paths to salvation. All salvation comes through Jesus and His Mystical Body the Church. Those non-Catholics who know the above information and yet do not enter the Church are oriented to Hell (Ad Gentes 7, Lumen Gentium 14).Those non-Catholics participating in inter religious dialogue, are educated. They know. They are oriented to Hell.

So evangelise!

Outside the Church there is no salvation. Catholic Faith and the Baptism of water are needed for all people. This is Vatican Council II.

No where in Nostra Aetate, Vatican Council II is it said that non Catholic religions are paths to salvation.

Vatican Council II is in harmony with John 3:5, the Church Fathers, Council of Florence, Evangelii Nuntiandi, Redemptoris Missio, Catechism of the Catholic Church, Dominus Iesus, Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, Notification on Fr. Jacques Dupuis etc.

Don’t let people fool you about Vatican Council II. Check the details and affirm the Faith which does not change.

Jesus called the Catholic Church “…my church…” He told St. Peter that it would prevail against Satan and be there for all time.-L.A
