Rome conference to expose heresy of Modernism

ROME, June 23, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) — Imagine that the trials of the current pontificate, the machinations of the German bishops, and Fr. James Martin’s controversial statements on homosexuality were to end tomorrow.
Perhaps for a time some would feel that Mordor had been destroyed and sunshine and freedom were restored to the Shire, but the current crisis in the Church would not be over.
Why? Because controversial passages in Amoris Laetitia, the German Bishops’ intercommunion proposal, and Fr. James Martin’s watering down of the Church’s teaching on homosexuality are only symptoms of a deeper problem. Health will not be restored to Christ’s Mystical Body until these deeper problems are identified, addressed and healed.
Lionel: There is also the problem of LifeSiteNews' Catholic editors and correspondents interpreting Vatican Council II with an irrational premise. This is modernism today.
In 1907, Pope Pius X famously stated that Modernism is not just one heresy but is the root and consummation of all heresies. He said of Modernists:
“They put their designs for [the Church’s] ruin into operation not from without but from within;
Lionel: John Henry Weston, Diane Montagna and others at LifeSiteNews are doing just this,so also the speakers at the Lepanto Foundation conference today.
hence, the danger is present almost in the very veins and heart of the Church, whose injury is the more certain, the more intimate is their knowledge of her. Moreover they lay the axe not to the branches and shoots, but to the very root, that is, to the faith and its deepest fires.
Lionel. They have changed the faith with a new theology and new doctrines on salvation, mission etc. They do this by choosing to use an irrational premise to interpret Magisterial documents. They have a choice but it would not be politically correct for them. So to protect their interests they choose modernism on faith and salvation-teachings. They support the innovation.
And having struck at this root of immortality, they proceed to disseminate poison through the whole tree, so that there is no part of Catholic truth from which they hold their hand, none that they do not strive to corrupt.” (Pascendi Dominici Gregis)
Lionel: With the use of a false premise, they have accepted Cushingite philosophy and theology and have applied it to the Nicene Creed, the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus, the Catechisms, encyclicals etc. They are led by the two liberal popes and the present Vatican Curia.

But what is Modernism? Why is it so pernicious? And how does it impact the way we think about God, the Church, and the world today?

Lionel : Modernism in the Church today begins by assuming what is hypothetical is not hypothetical, theoretical cases are assumed to be actual and known people in 2018, it assumes what is invisible is visible even when someone is practically not visible. It  reasons that what is subjective should be accepted as referring to objective people saved in a certain way in the present times. With this false reasoning a New Theology is created. This New Theology is used to re-interpret Vatican Council II. It wrongly assumes that there is known salvation outside the Catholic Church when for us human beings there cannot be any known person saved outside the Church; someone saved without faith and the baptism of water(AG 7, LG 14).
So with this modernism, the traditional motivation for mission is obsolete. The traditional reason to proclaim the Social Reign of Christ the King has ended. There is a New Ecumenism since there is alleged, known salvation in Christian religions. They have created a new Cushingite theology, which is the basis of present-day modernism in the Church. It has replaced traditional Feeneyite theology. It was supported by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger as Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and then as Pope Benedict.Modernism was orthodoxy for him.
This Saturday, June 23, a group of theologians, philosophers, historians and other scholars will meet in Rome for a conference titled “Old and New Modernism.” Its aim is to get to the root of the current crisis in the Church (see full program here).
Lionel: This group of theologians, philosophers, historians and scholars are all Cushingites. They are part of the problem. They are modernists and contribute to the crisis in the Catholic Church. They support doctrinal confusion instead of  removing.May be some of them are not aware of Cushingism as a philosophy and theology, which they unknowingly use.
Noted speakers, both lay and clergy, will analyze the epistemological, historicalphilosophical, theological and pastoral roots of the crisis, and the remedies to overcome it.

Lionel: As they have done at past conferences, talks and interviews,  they will ignore Cushingism as being the cause modernism. They will choose the hermeneutic of rupture instead of the hermeneutic of continuity. Some of them do this even after being informed.
Topics to be discussed include the historical roots and consequences of Modernism, its revival in the mid-20th century and the theological and juridical implications of positing a heretical pope.

Lionel: They have already spoken about their understanding of the historical roots and consequences of Modernism and have not discussed how magisterial documents can be interpreted with Cushingism or Feeneyism and the conclusions would be different. With Cushingism there is a schism with the past popes  and this is avoided with Feeneyism.
Their position on Vatican Council II is heretical. They have rejected the dogma EENS which again is heretical. They have changed the understanding of the Nicene Creed which is first class heresy and yet these traditionalists are not commenting on this issue. There are numerous reports on line on  but  there has been no comment from them at their annual Cushingite conferences.
Instead they should affirm Feeneyite Vatican Council II and EENS and then ask Rome to do the same.
The scholars involved in Saturday’s conference supported the Filial Correction (Correctio filialis) submitted to Pope Francis in August 2017. Its 250 signatories took the rare and serious step of charging Pope Francis with permitting the spread of seven heresies, at least by omission, and asked him to bring clarity.
Lionel: There have been so many reports on line charging the signatories of the Filial Correction with heresy. Since they change the interpretation of magisteial documents with their irrational reasoning. There has been no denial from Dr. Joseph Shaw, the spokesman for the Correctio Filialis and one of the speakers at today's modenist conference.
Obviously if a false premise is used to interpret Vatican Council II, for example, the conclusion would be non traditional and heretical. Yet this is being done by the modernist traditionalists and also the liberals at the Vatican.
I have mentioned this isue in previous reports on line  but Diane Montagna has ignored it. Those reports were even e-mailed to LifeSitesNews. No one responded.
They personally do not want to considered Feeneyite on EENS since this would not be acceptable to influential people. They do not want a reputation of being Feeneyite's on Vatican Council II, since it would mean that they do not reject the past ecclesiology of the Churh as do the present two popes.
The third part of the filial correction discusses what the authors regard as the two main causes of the current crisis in the Church: Modernism and Lutheranism.
Lionel: Lutheranism is the result of modernism and we can otherwise see the effects of Modernism in general in the Church. However the use of the false premise to interpret Vatican Council II is a major cause of modernism. It is a cause whose effects can be recognised in the Church. BOD, BOB and I.I never were exceptions to Feeneyite EENS. It was the Archbishop of Boston, Cardinal Richard Cushing who was teaching heresy and Fr. Leonard Feeney was not teaching anything new.
The traditionalists are not aware of it since the mistake was overlooked by Pope Pius XII and Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre. Then the popes since John XXII and and Prefects of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, did not correct the error.Cardinal Ottaviani was a Cushingite.

The summarized the former in this way: “Modernism is the belief that God has not delivered definite truths to the Church, which she must continue to teach in exactly the same sense until the end of time.”
Lionel: Yes , the modernism of the traditionalists in general and the speakers at today's conference is that we we can affirm theology and doctrine in 2018 which is a rupture with popes and magisterium of the past. This is especially true with reference to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus and the past ecclesiology of the Church. The modernism is created by interpreting the baptism of desire(BOD), the baptism of blood(BOB) and being saved in invincible ignorance(I.I) as not referring to physically invisible people but known people, visible in the flesh. So with this false premise there is  new interpretation of the Catechisms, Vatican Council II etc. There is a New Oath of Fidelity on Modernism, there is new doctrine at the Renewal of Vows, Profession of Faith etc.
Ahead of Saturday’s conference, here below is a brief excerpt of an interview on Modernism, which Prof. Claudio Pierantoni gave to LifeSite last September, after the Filial Correction made headlines in major Catholic and secular outlets across the world. (Our in-depth interview with Pierantoni can be read here.)
Prof. Pierantoni was born in Rome and is currently a professor of Medieval Philosophy in the Philosophy Faculty of the University of Chile (Santiago). He has two PhDs: in the History of Christianity and in Philosophy.
Prof. Pierantoni, do you think that Modernism is the root of the seven heretical propositions you have addressed in the Filial Correction?
Yes, I think that Modernism is the basic root, even more than Lutheranism.(Lionel : He is referring to Cushingism) Because Modernism is a more philosophically coherent system with definite presuppositions, whereas Lutheranism has different elements that are not always coherent with one another.(The incoherent philosophical system is created with Cushingism)  For example, the basic presupposition of Modernism, which in the end is a derivation of German idealism, is that all being is history, so truth cannot be immutable, but must evolve. The basic presupposition is that there is not a really immutable God (an error condemned by the First Vatican Council), and therefore an immutable substance of truth, but somehow God identifies himself with creation (another error condemned by Vatican I) and so evolves with history. In that sense, something can be true in the fourth century and false in the twenty-first. According to this view, today’s magisterium doesn’t need to be logically coherent with previous magisterium: it is enough to state that the same universal “Substance” — God, Reality, or Life — is speaking today as it speaks through the present magisterium, and there’s no point in contrasting it with previous magisterium. That is the philosophical foundation of maxims such as “Reality is superior to ideas” (cf. Evangelii gaudium, 233). (Yes this is all modernism but there is also the common modernism of interpreting Vatican Council II, the Creed, the dogma EENS and the Catechism with Cushingism) But, in the end, it is clear that this leads to abandoning the principle of non-contradiction: that’s why you hear nowadays in Rome statements like Fr. Spadaro’s already (in)famous one: “two and two are five.” (To assume invisible cases of the baptism of desire etc are visible exceptions to all needing to be formal members of the Catholic Church for salvation, also violates the Principle of Non Contradiction.Yet this is the norm in philosophical reasoning among the traditionalists and the speakers at today's conference. For example, Enrico M.Radaelli, Maria Guarini, Joseh Shaw, John Lamont and Roberto dei Mattei accept the Letter of the Holy Office (1949) which uses this Cushingite reasoning. The Letter assumed BOD, BOB and I.I were exceptions to Feeneyite EENS. So they support modernism as do the present two popes.) Now I think this contradiction leads not only to heresy, but still more, to mental illness. It is no exaggeration what Cardinal Sarah stated during one of the Vatican synods of 2014 - 2015 that “the divorce between doctrine and practice is a dangerous schizophrenic pathology.” (There is also a divorce between present and past doctrine. This is divorce is created with Cushingism and it is accepted by also conservative Catholics. So they are part of the crisis in the Catholic Church.
Could you tell our readers more about what Modernism is?
I think that in Modernism there is a deep philosophical problem about the idea of God himself. In Modernism, God is conceived as changeable.(Yes this is  modernism)  Somehow the substance of God is immanent in the world in such a way that you cannot metaphysically distinguish being from becoming, being from change. If God is changing with reality, then you have a problem with the very notion of God, and nowadays this is a very strong school of thought. It is Hegelian in origin. I think it’s much more ancient as a doctrine (you can trace it back to ancient Gnosticism) but Hegel is its most famous modern representative. And it’s very strong in modern faculties of theology. So it’s a very deep problem.
(It was not a problem in the Church in the 1930's. It was not part of mainstream Catholic theology and philosophy in the past, as it is today. It is the speakers at this conference, I repeat, who are the modernists. They use an irrational philosophy and theology to interpret past and present Church documents. In this sense they are the same as the Americanists and the liberal theologians in the 1940's and onwards.)
I think the immediate intention of the Pope and his counsellors was to give an answer to the question of Communion for divorced and civilly remarried Catholics. But then, in order to give a theological and philosophical justification, they had to make explicit their own presuppositions, which are mistaken in a much more profound way(True) So the general view you get is very frightening and apocalyptic.(I agree. But if Cushingite in general is replaced with Feeneyism in the Church, there is hope for the future.) Modernism, as Pope Pius X famously stated, is not just “one heresy,” but the root and consummation of all heresies. (Cushingism is at the root of the rejection of the Old Ecumenism, the Old Ecclesiology, the Old Evangelisation, the Old Canon Law, the Old Profession of Faith, the Old Nicene Creed, the old motivation for Mission...Without Cushingism there cannot be a New Theology, New Ecumenism, New Evangelisation etc.)
