The Saint Benedict Center is a
small community of faithful Catholics in rural New Hampshire. At a time
of so many changes and problems in the Church, the Center has been an
oasis of Catholic fidelity and stability. For many years it has
attracted worshipers from all over New England with the beautiful
liturgy of the Traditional Latin Mass.
Its primary and secondary school ---
Immaculate Heart of Mary School --- provides a solid formation and a
classical curriculum that is affordable to parents.
The Saint Benedict Center's apostolate
includes book selling, lectures, a radio program, and the publication of
scholarly and devotional articles on its website.
For twelve years, the Saint Benedict
Center has sought, in good faith and in full cooperation, official
recognition from the Church. In an era when so many Catholics are
abandoning the Faith, one would think that Church leaders would eagerly
embrace a group which is drawing people to the Catholic Faith, and which
is bringing back others who had left. Instead, the Diocese of
Manchester has imposed, most unjustly, draconian sanctions upon the
Center.
The Diocese has withdrawn their priest,
forbidden the celebration of Mass or the administration of the
sacraments at the Center, and ordered Catholics not to support the
Center financially or to send their children to its school.
Members of the Saint Benedict Center
have been prohibited from teaching, publishing, soliciting funds, or
even speaking out in their own defense. That is where we, the "Friends
of Saint Benedict Center," come in.
Catholics at the Center will need to
engage canon lawyers to represent them and to argue their case before
the highest tribunals of the Vatican in order to challenge this unjust
decision and appeal to Rome for relief. To ensure that their rights are
fully protected, they will also have to hire civil lawyers, and they
will need public advocates to defend them from one-sided attacks in the
liberal media.
All of this is time sensitive, highly
specialized and yes, costly! The members of Saint Benedict Center are
confident that they have a strong case! Currently, the Diocese of
Manchester does not allow SBC members and employees to directly raise
funds. However, I am able to ask, and I am doing so now. Please keep
Saint Benedict Center in your prayers and send whatever financial
assistance you can! Your help is urgently needed. Please make a donation
today!
SAINT BENEDICT, PRAY FOR US!
