The Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) is still interpreting
Magisterial Documents with Cushingism and not Feeneyism. Pick out any Church
Document and they are probably interpreting it irrationally.
Here is the Syllabus of Errors of Pope Pius IX.
15. Every man is free to embrace and
profess that religion which, guided by the light of reason, he shall consider
true.—Allocution "Maxima quidem," June 9, 1862; Damnatio
"Multiplices inter," June 10, 1851.
Lionel: Yes says the SSPX. Since there is known
salvation outside the Church, for them. A non Catholic can be saved outside the Church.
This is also the reasoning of the liberals. This is Cushingism.
For me there is no known salvation outside the Church.
We cannot see or meet someone saved with the baptism of desire or in invincible
ignorance. Invisible cases are invisible for me. This is Feeneyism.
16. Man may, in the observance of any
religion whatever, find the way of eternal salvation, and arrive at eternal
salvation.—Encyclical "Qui pluribus," Nov. 9, 1846.
17. Good hope at least is to be entertained of the
eternal salvation of all those who are not at all in the true Church of
Christ.—Encyclical "Quanto conficiamur," Aug. 10, 1863, etc.
The SSPX are Cushingites and so there are exceptions for an ecumenism of return, the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus, the Athanasius Creed etc, for them. -Lionel Andrades
