Cardinal Ottaviani personally did not know any one saved without 'faith and baptism'.
He personally did not know any one saved outside the Church i.e without faith and baptism.
Cardinal Ottaviani did not personally know any exception to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus.
Yet he supported the excommunication of Fr. Leonard Feeney and the Letter of the Holy Office 1949 during the pontificate of Pope Pius XII.
For him being saved with the baptism of desire, the baptism of blood and in invincible ignorance referred to cases without the baptism of water. They were explicit and visible for him. They were explicit and objectively seen for them to be exceptions to the traditional interpretation of the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. They were objective for him and so Fr.Leonard Feeney was condemned since he could not see any such objective case and made this known.
We now know that there are no known cases of persons saved without faith and baptism. There are no known exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. We humans cannot see or know any such exception, in the present or past.
There was a mistake made by Cardinal Alfredo Ottaviani in the Fr. Leonard Feeney case.

Similarly for Pope Pius XII, Cardinal Ottaviani and Cardinal Francesco Marchetti Selvaggiani B was an exception to A. B was an exception to the strict interpretation of the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. So they criticised Fr. Leonard Feeney and the St. Benedict Center for not accepting B as an exception to A.- from Sedevacantists after months of discussions cannot answer if Lumen Gentium 16 is explicit or implicit and if it is an exception to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus http://eucharistandmission.blogspot.it/2015/10/message-incomplete-four-months-have.html
