Doctrinal Beliefs  1
So do you believe a soul can attain baptism of desire without believing in the essential mysteries of faith so as long as they are ignorant? Some of the above statements seem to imply that. Seems quite contrary to the previous position of the SBC. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Lionel:
Every one needs the baptism of water in the Catholic Church for salvation and there are  no objective exceptions of the baptism of desire etc. There are none for example in 2019. In real life there is no baptism of desire known to us humans. If someone is saved outside the Church with the baptism of desire it would only be known to God.So the baptism of desire is not relevant to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus(EENS).
However it is often said that with God, all things are possible. Yes, with God all things are possible and if he decides to save someone with the baptism of desire outside the Church, it would only be known to God. So hypothetically, as a possibility known to God we do not reject theoretical cases of the baptism of desire. But we do not suggest that they are practical exceptions to EENS or examples of known salvation outside the Church.
