Every one would agree. Archbishop Carlo Vigano, the SSPX bishops and the Lefebvrists in general have used a false premise to interpret Vatican Council II. Every one I would refer to would say they made a mistake . Expectedly there is no denial from Vigano, Schneider, the SSPX bishops and Prof. Roberto dei Mattei. Vatican Council II was not just a pastoral Council. It supported the strict interpretation of the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus (EENS).
John Martignoni the U.S apologist says zero cases of the baptism of desire, baptism of blood and invincible ignorance are not exceptions to extra ecclesiam nulla salus(EENS). For the Lefebvrists they were exceptions and still are.The proof is there in their writings.
Archbishop Thomas E. Gullickson says BOD, BOB and I.I are not exceptions to EENS. They never were.But for Archbishop Vigano and the Lefbvrists there were exceptions to EENS. The Lefebvrists were not Feeneyites. They did affirm the strict interpretation of EENS. It was EENS with exceptions.
Fr. Stefano Visintin OSB, Rector of the Pontifical University of St. Anselm, Rome said that BOD, BOB and I.I are not exceptions to EENS. In the sense, that there are no literal cases. So he would also be saying that the SSPX bishops made a mistake.
The traditionalists made a mistake on doctrine and they do not issue press releases on this subject.There is no denial and they remain quiet.
The Lefebvrists are traditionalists on the liturgy and modernists in theology.
For 55 years Christopher Ferrara was wrong on Vatican Council II and he wants to go to his end, like Fr. Nicholas Gruner and John Vennari, without admitting the truth and apologizing for the error.
The Catholic Family News(CFN) observes the death anniversary of John Vennari, without mentioning that the CFN was wrong on Vatican Council II.
There is no clarification coming also from the website Whisperers of Restoration and Peter Kwasniewski.
These traditionalists used a false premise which could have been avoided.The Council is Feeneyite. It supports traditional EENS.
But the CFN, Lepanto Foundation, Una Voce International, Latin Mass Socities are not issuing a correctiion or apology.
The Lefbvrists misled so many people. Now they are posting reports on Vigano and suggesting that the liberals are in a false and parallel Church and that they are in the original one.
I am writing this not to condemn the Lefbvrists. I appreciate what they have done for the Faith. I want them to admit that they made an error.Then the present concept of traditionalist and progressivist, based on the false premise, ends in the Church.
Vatican Council II cannot be used by the CDF and the Left to create division within the Church.
There will no more be an artificial and official schism in the Church.The popes of the past will not be rejected.The present popes will not contradict the past Magisterium, by using the false premise.
So the Lefebvrists could simply make an announcement saying there are no personally known cases, in 2020, of any one saved in invincible ignorance, the baptism of desire and the baptism of blood, in or outside the Church. With this announcement of the obvious, everything else will fall in place.
When I talk to people they all agree with me. They say there are no physically visible cases of any one saved with BOD,BOB and I.I. So Vatican Council II was referring to hypothetical cases only in LG 8, LG 14, LG 16, UR 3, NA 2, GS 22 etc. It was not referring to literal people saved outside the Catholic Church.
For the Lefebrists LG 8 etc are exceptions to EENS. So they imply that these are visible and not hypothetical cases. They have used the false premise.
If Catholics do not want to accept this interpretation of Vatican Council II without the false premise it is another issue. But the Council should not be interpreted with the false premise as if this is normal.
I live in the parish Santa Maria di Nazareth, Casalotti, Boccea, Rome. It is in the diocese of Porta Santa Rufina and the bishop is Gino Reali.Here also is the seminary of the Franciscans of the Immaculate where the Rector and Superior is Father Rosario Sammarco, F.I.
He was kind to let me stay within the Church at Boccea during the three months lockdown in Italy.
Over the last three or more years I have been living under the old Church in the parish premises, in what was formerly an un-used depot.The then Superior of the Fr. John Francisco F.I told me that I could remain there until the other group of the Franciscans of the Immaculate came for their property.
I saw Fr. Sabino Ardito, the Commissar, appointed by Pope Francis, once in the Church, during the time I was in a kind of spiritual retreat for three months, away, from the Internet.
All the priests, Friars and seminarians there, who live in the main structure of the seminary,agree that there are no physically visible cases of BOD, BOB and I.I.
So Archbishop Vigano must correct this mistake of the Lefebvrists and the Catholics in general. An announcement and clarification from Archbishop Vigano on this doctrinal issue is needed.-Lionel Andrades
