ITALIAN PARISH PRIEST SAYS AD GENTES 7 DOES NOT REFER TO ALL JEWS AND MUSLIMS BEING ON THE WAY TO HELL

Interprets Lumen Gentium 16 as indicating de facto and not de jure salvation. Contradicts other Italian priest who suggests he is in heresy

Don Danielle is the Parish Priest at the Church of San Vitale (e C.C M.M),Via Nazionale, Rome where the Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima has been brought for a week and many people have been visiting the Church. There has been the praying of the rosary before the Blessed Sacrament, preceded by Holy Mass.

Today evening I spoke to the Parish Priest about Vatican Council II (Ad Gentes 7) indicating all the Jews and Muslims in Rome are on the way to Hell. I showed him my pamphlet on this subject.

He said that he did not believe this was true since we do not know who is in Hell and who is going to Hell.

I said that the ex cathedra dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus says all the non Catholics are on the way to Hell unless they convert into the Catholic Church.

He said that this was not true since Vatican Council II says only those who know about the Catholic Church and do not enter are on the way to Hell.

So I mentioned that this was the message of my pamphlet. It says all Jews and Muslims know about the Catholic Church.

He would not agree .

It does not mean that all of them know about the Catholic Church, some may not know, and others will know.

Those others who l know are the way to Hell?

He would still not say YES.

It may be mentioned that last Sunday Fr.Massimilliano dei Gaspari F.I agreed that de facto every non Catholic needs to enter the Catholic Church for salvation (to avoid Hell).

Those with implicit faith can be saved as a probability known only to God.

If one refers to implicit faith(baptism of desire etc) as de facto salvation it is a heresy. Since it contradicts the ex cathedra dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. We also cannot judge who has a genuine baptism of desire or is really in invincible ignorance.

Catechesi per Cattolici

______________________________________________

" Sì ", ha detto in Italiano. Inoltre parla inglese.

1. “There is but one universal Church of the faithful, outside which no one at all is saved.” (Pope Innocent III, Fourth Lateran Council, 1215.).
2. “We declare, say, define, and pronounce that it is absolutely necessary for the salvation of every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff.” (Pope Boniface VIII, the Bull Unam Sanctam, 302.).
3.“The most Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that none of those existing outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans, but also Jews and heretics and schismatics, can have a share in life eternal; but that they will go into the eternal fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless before death they are joined with Her; and that so important is the unity of this ecclesiastical body that only those remaining within this unity can profit by the sacraments of the Church unto salvation, and they alone can receive an eternal recompense for their fasts, their almsgivings, their other works of Christian piety and the duties of a Christian soldier. No one, let his almsgiving be as great as it may, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the Name of Christ, can be saved, unless he remain within the bosom and the unity of the Catholic Church.” (Pope Eugene IV, the Bull Cantate Domino, 1441.)

http://eucharistandmission.blogspot.com/2009/10/scott-hahn-affirms-dogma-extra.html#links

________________________________________________________________________________

1.“There is but one universal Church of the faithful, outside which no one at all is saved.” (Pope Innocent III, Fourth Lateran Council, 1215).

No one, let his almsgiving be as great as it may, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the Name of Christ, can be saved, unless he remain within the bosom and the unity of the Catholic Church.” (Pope Eugene IV, the Bull Cantate Domino, 1441.) – from the website Catholicism.org and “No Salvation outside the Church”: Link List)

Cardinal William Levada, Prefetto, Congregazione per la Dottrina della Fede (CDF) e l'arcivescovo Angelo Amato, l'ex segretaria, CDF dice nelle Responses to Some questions regarding certain Aspects of the Doctrine of the Church (2007) che:

Christ “established here on earth” only one Church and instituted it as a “visible and spiritual community”, that from its beginning and throughout the centuries has always existed and will always exist, and in which alone are found all the elements that Christ himself instituted. “This one Church of Christ, which we confess in the Creed as one, holy, catholic and apostolic.

This Church, constituted and organised in this world as a society, subsists in the Catholic Church, governed by the successor of Peter and the Bishops in communion with him”.The word “subsists” can only be attributed to the Catholic Church alone precisely because it refers to the mark of unity that we profess in the symbols of the faith (I believe... in the “one” Church); and this “one” Church subsists in the Catholic Church.-Responses to Some Questions Regarding certain Aspects of the Doctrine on the Church.(June 29, 2007)

Responses dice:

'"It follows that these separated churches and Communities, though we believe they suffer from defects, are deprived neither of significance nor importance in the mystery of salvation. In fact the Spirit of Christ has not refrained from using them as instruments of salvation, whose value derives from that fullness of grace and of truth which has been entrusted to the Catholic Church..."'

Così non possiamo interpretare il ‘ ‘It follows that these separated churches and Communities….’ riferirsi al senso ordinario di salvezza. Soltanto in ‘certo circostanze’; eccezionalmente.

1. “There is but one universal Church of the faithful, outside which no one at all is saved.” (Pope Innocent III, Fourth Lateran Council, 1215). 2. “We declare, say, define, and pronounce that it is absolutely necessary for the salvation of every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff.” (Pope Boniface VIII, the Bull Unam Sanctam, 302.).3.“The most Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that none of those existing outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans, but also Jews and heretics and schismatics, can have a share in life eternal; but that they will go into the eternal fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless before death they are joined with Her; and that so important is the unity of this ecclesiastical body that only those remaining within this unity can profit by the sacraments of the Church unto salvation, and they alone can receive an eternal recompense for their fasts, their almsgivings, their other works of Christian piety and the duties of a Christian soldier.

DON MARTIN MARY F.I

TO INTERPRET IMPLICIT FAITH (BAPTISM OF DESIRE ETC) AS REFERRING TO DE FACTO SALVATION WOULD BE HERESY- Don Massimiliano dei Gaspari F.I, Superior and Italian priest in Rome

Don Massimiliano dei Gaspari F.I, a Superior and Italian priest in Rome, of the community Franciscans of the Immaculate last Sunday agreed that to interpret implicit faith ( baptism of desire, invincible ignorance etc) as referring to de facto salvation would be a heresy.

The ex cathedra dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus says everyone with no exception needs to be a visible member of the Catholic Church to be saved (from Hell).

The three popes and Councils which gave Catholics this infallible teaching were aware of invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire (implicit faith). It was not mentioned for the first time in Vatican Council II.Fr. Massimiliano dei Gaspari agreed.

The popes interpreted implicit faith not as de facto salvation. Fr. Massimilliano dei Gaspari agreed. We cannot judge de facto who has a genuine baptism of desire. He agreed.

So if we interpret implicit faith in Vatican Council II (LG 16) as referring to de facto salvation it would be a heresy. It would contradict the ex cathedra teaching outside the Church there is no salvation. It would also contradict Vatican Council II (Ad Gentes 7) and the Catechism of the Catholic Church (836) which state 'all' need to enter the Catholic Church for salvation.
Here is the ex cathedra teaching which Pope Pius XII referred to as the 'dogma' and the 'infallible'teaching (Letter of the Holy Office to the Archbishop of Boston relative to Fr.Leonard Feeney)

No one, let his almsgiving be as great as it may, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the Name of Christ, can be saved, unless he remain within the bosom and the unity of the Catholic Church.” (Pope Eugene IV, the Bull Cantate Domino, 1441.) – from the website Catholicism.org and “No Salvation outside the Church”: Link List, the Three Dogmatic Statements Regarding EENS)
When one asks a Catholic religious if everyone needs to enter the Catholic Church for salvation the answer is usually ‘Yes, except for those in invincible ignorance or who have the baptism of desire’.If the religious is referring to de facto salvation it is a heresy.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Doctrine Committee in a decision on Fr. Peter Phan said correctly that the Church was necessary for salvation. The USCCB then referring to implicit faith as an exception without qualifying if they were referring to de facto or de jure salvation.

The Franciscans of the Immaculate have published in Italian a translation of a book by Fr. William Most in which he suggests that millions of non Catholics are saved through implicit faith-defacto.(p.215,Ho Altre Pecore, Fondamenti della Fede Cattolica, Padre Guglielmo Most,Traduzione Italiana di Attilio Tempra SSP,Casa Mariana,Maria SS.Del Buon Consiglio,83040 Frigenteo (AV),1991).

Cardinals Tarcisio Bertone, Angelo Bagnasco and Walter Kaspar have said officially that Jews do not have to convert in the present times. This is contradiction of the ex cathedra dogma, Vatican Council II and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. They are in public mortal sin. They are automatically excommunicated.
It was Fr.Hans Kung who interpreted implicit faith as a break from tradition and as a negation of the ex cathedra dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus.

CARDINAL BERNARD LAW SAYS JEWS NEED BAPTISM TO JOIN THE 'CHOSEN PEOPLE', THE CATHOLIC CHURCH: EASTER VIGIL SERVICE IN ROME

Everyone needs to be baptized within the Catholic Church for salvation is the message of the former Archbishop of Boston.
His Eminence Cardinal Bernard Francis Law, Archpriest of the Papal Basilica of St. Mary Majors, Rome prayed that the Jews, whom he mentioned specifically among all people, be baptized and so join the Chosen People (“popolo eletto”); the Elect, the Catholic Church.
The cardinal was leading the Easter Vigil prayers on Saturday night at the Basilica of St. Mary Majors. There was a large congregation in attendance.
Cardinal Law specifically mentioned after two Old Testament Readings, the necessity of the Jews being baptized for salvation.
Later in his homily in Italian he emphasized the necessity of the Catholic Church for the salvation of all people; all people who enter the Catholic Church.
The cardinal’s message was that Catholics are the ‘chosen people’ of God. He said one cannot separate Jesus from the Catholic Church. Jesus in the Catholic Church is the only way to God the Father. Salvation is available for all baptized persons who enter the Catholic Church. To be saved all people need to worship Jesus in the Catholic Church. He cited various popes.
It may be mentioned that it is an ex cathedra teaching of three popes and Councils that all people with no exception need to join ‘the chosen people’, the Catholic Church for salvation.
Vatican Council II (Ad Gentes7, Lumen Gentium 14) also mentions the need for all people to enter the Catholic Church as the only way of salvation. It indicates that millions of educated, informed non Catholics, who know about the Catholic Church and yet do not enter, are oriented to Hell. They would include most of the population of present-day Israel.

" Sì ", ha detto in Italiano. Inoltre parla inglese.

FATHER MASIMILLIANO DEI GASPARI F.I SAYS EVERYONE WITH NO EXCEPTION HAS TO DE FACTO ENTER THE CATHOLIC CHURCH FOR SALVATION

Father Massimilliano dei Gaspari F.I says everyone with no exception needs to de facto enter the Catholic Church for salvation. I was speaking with him today morning before he celebrated Holy Mass in Latin at the Church of the Annunziata, Lungotevere, Rome.
"Would you agree that everyone with no exception defacto needs to enter the Catholic Church for salvation while there is a possibility in principle, de jure, that in certain circumstances those with implicit faith (baptism of desire, invincible ignorance etc) can be saved and it would be known only to God?"
"Yes. I agree ", he said in Italian. He also speaks English.
It would also contradict Vatican Council II (Ad Gentes 7) and the Catechism of the Catholic Church (836) which states 'all' need to enter the Catholic Church for salvation.

PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION NEEDED AT ST.MARY MAJORS TO ELIMINATE PROSTITUITION IN THE AREA

There is an increase of prostituion in many areas of Rome and it is conspicous at a point near St.Mary Majors. The police know about it and probable try to end it.When the prostitutes see the police they can be seen telling their clients to wait or come later, the police is there.

I walk passed that street often and see the buisness. There are different women who operate there. They are there on Saturday and Sunday late evenings when there is no Eucharistic Adoration at St.Mary Majors or one of the many churches in that area.

At the Basilica of St.Mary Majors they have continous Eucharistic Adoration during the day which ends by evening.Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration has still to be organsed for the night there.

Many bishops and priests throughout the world, including Sicily,Italy have reported that when they begin 24 hours perpetual Eucharistic Adoration crime, prostituion, abortion and other evils end in the vicinity.Church attendance and all that is good increases. It is like with one action, watering the root of a plant, the whole tree is enlivened, roots, eaves, bark etc.

If security is a problem at night, St.Mary Majors can hire guards as they do during the day.At the Basilica of St.Peters Basilica,Rome where they have day adoration which had been begun during the time of Pope John Paul II, there are seminarians employed.

At nearby Termini there are many Catholic social workers who bring clothes and food for the poor. They include the lady members of the San Egidio Community. The ladies can be seen near Termini and St. Mary Major distributing food along with so many other Italians.

If those ladies would agree to stay before the Blessed Sacrament at St. Mary Majors it would help eliminate poverty and evil in the area. They would be indirectly doing the same type of work they are doing now, which is being overlapped by so many other people.

THERE IS NO CONTRADICTION BETWEEN LUMEN GENTIUM VATICAN COUNCIL II AND FEENEYISM AS WIKIPEDIA ALLEGES

The Catechism of the Catholic Church indicates that de facto non Catholics need to enter the Catholic Church for salvation. It also uses the word all (CCC 836) as does Vatican Council II (Ad Gentes 7). This is 'Feeneyism'.
Feeneyism
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Feeneyism is a term for the Roman Catholic theology associated with Leonard Feeney (1897–1978), a Jesuit priest and founder of the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Fr. Feeney favoured a strict interpretation of the doctrine extra Ecclesiam nulla salus ("outside the church there is no salvation").

It is traditionally believed that sacramental baptism ("baptism of water") is the only way to be properly baptized. In addition, "the Church has always held the firm conviction that those who suffer death for the sake of the faith without having received Baptism are baptized by their death for and with Christ. This Baptism of blood, like the desire for Baptism, brings about the fruits of Baptism without being a sacrament."[2] Fr. Feeney felt that, in the previous two centuries, some tended to broaden the notion of "baptism of desire" to cover the situation of all who try to live good lives, even to those who desired no relationship with the Catholic Church. Fr. Feeney argued, as Fr. Michael Müller did, that those who are truly sincere will be led by God to Catholicism…

Father Feeney and his followers maintain that there is a contradiction between the Second Vatican Council's document Lumen Gentium and earlier authoritative statements that they interpret as saying that non-Catholics are indiscriminately damned.

Followers of Father Feeney interpret the Catholic Church's declarations that outside of the Church there is no salvation as excluding from salvation people like the American Indians who lived between the times of Christ and Columbus, because they could not have been baptized, except on the hypothesis that some Christian missionaries did manage to reach them and baptize them in the Catholic faith.

CCC 1257 affirms the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salis  when it says that the Church knows of no means to eternal beatitude other than the baptism of water. This is a reference to explicit salvation for all with no known exceptions. This is Feeneyism.

CCC 1257 also says that for salvation God is not restricted to the Sacraments. This must not be interpreted as opposing the dogma or the earlier part of CCC 1257. This is a possibility, 'in certain circumstances' (Letter of the Holy Office 1949) and we cannot judge any specific cases.

However, those, who through no fault of their own do not know either the Gospel of Christ or his Church, can achieve salvation by seeking God with a sincere heart and by trying to do God's will (Second Vatican Council). Although God can lead all people to salvation, the Church still has the duty to evangelize all men.-CCC 848
Those who are in invincible ignorance can be saved -and this does not conflict with the ex cathedra dogma that everyone with no exception needs to enter the Church to avoid Hell. It is a conceptual, de jure understanding.

How do we understand this saying from the Church Fathers? All salvation comes from Christ through his Body, the Church which is necessary for salvation because Christ is present in his Church...-CCC846

Here the Catechism places de jure and defacto salvation together. It does not conflict with the ex cathedra teaching that everyone with no exception needs to enter the Catholic Church .We cannot personally know any cases of a genuine invincible ignorance, baptism of desire or a good conscience.

The Father wants to reunite all humanity into his Son's Church. According to St. Augustine and St. Ambrose, the Church was prefigured by Noah's ark, which alone saved the world from the flood.-CCC 845
Here again we have an affirmation of the ex cathedra dogma, the infallible teaching that de facto everyone needs to enter the only Ark of Salvation.Pure Feeneyism!

The dogma, the infallible teaching is that de facto every person needs to enter the Catholic Church, Jesus' Mystical Body (Colossians) for salvation, with no exceptions, known to us. Pope Pius XII called it the infallible teaching (Letter of the Holy Office 1949).This would apply to non Catholics in Rome.

If there are exceptions to the ordinary means of salvation which is the baptism of water and Catholic Faith it will be known to God only and Jesus only will judge. So in a sense mentioning it is irrelevant at the level of personal evangelisation personal contact with non-Catholics.

All men are certainly called to this Catholic unity. The Catholic faithful, others who believe in Christ and all mankind belong to or are ordered to Catholic unity.-CCC 836
Here again we have an affirmation of the ex cathedra dogma and the word all is used as in Ad Gentes 7.

Here is the ex cathedra dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus.

The ex cathedra dogma does not say that ‘those who through no fault of their own do not know either the Gospel or Christ or his Church, or who have a sincere heart’ do not have to enter the Catholic Church to go to Heaven. Everyone has to enter the Church and there are no exceptions. This was the infallible teaching for centuries (Letter of the Holy Office 1949)

It means that those who are the exceptions to the baptism of water are rare cases,' in certain circumstances’, known only to God (Letter of the Holy Office 1949). We cannot judge. So the explicit salvation teaching for all to enter the Church, of the Catechism of the Catholic Church still holds. It is in accord with the dogma. It is in accord with the strict interpretation of the dogma; the only interpretation.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church says all people need to enter the Catholic Church to go to Heaven, the Church is the only Ark of Noah that saves in the flood and the Catholic Church knows of no other means to eternal beatitude other than the Baptism of water (which is given to adults who have Catholic Faith). The Catechism says God wants all people to be united into the Catholic Church, it is in the Catholic Church that God wants all people to worship him. So this is a reference to the infallible teaching based on the Bible and Catholic Tradition. It is the teaching of the Magisterium of the past and today. This is Feeneyism.

Vatican Council II indicates that all Jews and Muslims in Rome and Italy are on the way to Hell. The Bible, the Church and Vatican Council II say Jews and Muslims need to convert into the Catholic Church to go to Heaven. All of them. Ad Gentes 7 says all people need Catholic Faith and the Baptism of water for salvation. All means everyone with no exceptions.

Therefore, all must be converted to Him, made known by the Church's preaching, and all must be incorporated into Him by baptism and into the Church which is His body. For Christ Himself "by stressing in express language the necessity of faith and baptism (cf. Mark 16:16; John 3:5), at the same time confirmed the necessity of the Church, into which men enter by baptism, as by a door.-Ad Gentes 7,Vatican Council II.
Ad Gentes 7 says those who know about Jesus and the Catholic Church and yet do not enter are on the way to Hell. In Rome,Italy Muslims and Jews know about Jesus and the Catholic Church. It is a mortal sin of faith when they do not enter the Catholic Church.

Therefore those men cannot be saved, who though aware that God, through Jesus Christ founded the Church as something necessary, still do not wish to enter into it, or to persevere in it.-Ad Gentes 7, Vatican Council II

Whosoever, therefore, knowing that the Catholic Church was made necessary by Christ, would refuse to enter or to remain in it, could not be saved.-Lumen Gentium 14, Vatican Council II
The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Vatican has positively endorsed the ex cathedra dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus in Responses to Some questions regarding certain Aspects of the Doctrine of the Church in which it refers to ‘the traditional doctrine’, ‘according to Catholic doctrine’

Cardinal William Levada, Prefect, Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) and Archbishop Angelo Amato, former Secretary, CDF emphasize in Responses to Some questions regarding certain Aspects of the Doctrine of the Church :

Christ “established here on earth” only one Church and instituted it as a “visible and spiritual community”, that from its beginning and throughout the centuries has always existed and will always exist, and in which alone are found all the elements that Christ himself instituted. “This one Church of Christ, which we confess in the Creed as one, holy, catholic and apostolic.

This Church, constituted and organised in this world as a society, subsists in the Catholic Church, governed by the successor of Peter and the Bishops in communion with him”.]the word “subsists” can only be attributed to the Catholic Church alone precisely because it refers to the mark of unity that we profess in the symbols of the faith (I believe... in the “one” Church); and this “one” Church subsists in the Catholic Church.-Responses to Some Questions Regarding certain Aspects of the Doctrine on the Church.(June 29, 2007)
So Responses to Some Questions Regarding certain Aspects of the Doctrine on the Church does not explain are understanding of Church (ecclesiology) as a break from Tradition and extra ecclesiam nulla salus. It repeats the message of Vatican Council II that the Church is a necessity for salvation (Ad Gentes 7, Lumen Gentium 14). We do not separate Jesus from the Church, even though elements of salvation can be present outside the visible boundaries of the church. De facto everyone needs to enter the Catholic Church; it is a necessity for salvation .All non-Catholics need to enter through the ordinary way of salvation which is the baptism of water and Catholic Faith. De facto everyone needs to enter the Church.

De jure (conceptually, in theory, intellectually, in theology) we could debate or discuss exceptions to the need of salvation, those without the baptism of water. However these are exceptions known only to God. They are unknown to us. They are unknown to us since only Jesus can judge. He will decide.

Responses states

“It follows that these separated churches and Communities, though we believe they suffer from defects, are deprived neither of significance nor importance in the mystery of salvation. In fact the Spirit of Christ has not refrained from using them as instruments of salvation, whose value derives from that fullness of grace and of truth which has been entrusted to the Catholic Church”
In ‘certain circumstances’ as Pope Pius XII states (Letter of the Holy Office 1949) those with implicit faith, those who are not Catholics ,can be saved (without Catholic Faith and the Baptism of water). So we cannot interpret ‘It follows that these separated churches and Communities….’ as referring to the ordinary way of salvation. Since only in 'certain circumstances’; exceptionally and known to God only can members of separated Churches and communities be saved without Catholic Faith in the Catholic Church. The ordinary way of salvation is the baptism of water and Catholic Faith. For example the Catechism states that the Catholic Church knows of no way to eternal beatitude other than the baptism of water (given to adults with Catholic Faith). So this is the ordinary way. Yet CCC 1257 also says salvation is not limited to the Sacraments. So here we have the dejure, extraordinary reference to the exceptional means of salvation. In a way it is irrelevant to us since it will be judged only by Jesus.

If ‘“It follows that these separated churches and Communities…’ was a reference to the ordinary way of salvation then it would contradict Vatican Council II. Since Ad Gentes 7, states “all people” need Catholic Faith and the Baptism of water for salvation. All.

If de facto we know specifically, personally, that someone in ‘these separated churches and Communities’ can be saved, then it would contradict the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. It would contradict Feeneyism.

So dejure, conceptually we know “It follows that these separated churches and Communities, though we believe they suffer from defects, are deprived neither of significance nor importance in the mystery of salvation. In fact the Spirit of Christ has not refrained from using them as instruments of salvation, whose value derives from that fullness...'-is possible. De jure (conceptually, in theory, intellectually, in theology) we could debate or discuss this possibility.

De facto it is clear that there are no exceptions to ' Christ “established here on earth” only one Church and instituted it as a “visible and spiritual community”, that from its beginning and throughout the centuries has always existed and will always exist, and in which alone are found all the elements that Christ himself instituted. “This one Church of Christ, which we confess in the Creed as one, holy, catholic and apostolic.

De facto (in evangelising, in personal contact with non-Catholics) there is no one who specifically has the baptism of desire, who I know is in invincible ignorance or who I can judge has good conscience.

We know that all Muslims and Jews in Rome need to enter the Catholic Church to avoid Hell. This has been Catholic teaching for centuries and it is affirmed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Vatican Council II, the ex cathedra dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith document, besides other Church documents and the Bible.
So why should the supporters of Fr.Leonard Feeney claim that there is a contradiction between Lumen Gentium,Vatican Council II and Feeneyism as Wikipedia alleges falsely?

ATHANASIUS CONTRA MUNDUM 2 : IT IS TIME FOR SUPPORTERS OF FR.LEONARD FEENEY TO GO ON THE OFFENSIVE THEOLOGICALLY

Athanasius Contra Mundum in the comments section has been fencing with young lay supporters of Fr.Leonard Feeney.

In one of his comments Athansius  uses the stereotype attack:

‘…Feeney was excommunicated for discipline, and the Church chose not to flog a dead horse when he finally did seek reconciliation. That doesn't mean a tacit support of his theological views, especially since they are opposed to Lumen Gentium and the current Vatican II mania which still persists in the hierarchy would never allow that to get away. Rome always tries to avoid schisms and do what's best for the soul.
Feeney's teaching is condemned by the tradition, there is nothing further needed.

Feeney and his young supporters opposed to Lumen Gentium (16),Vatican Council II?
They are condemned by tradition?

Athanasius tells supporters of Fr.Leonard Feeney that they are in heresy for rejecting Vatican Council II and the Catechism (which repeats Vatican Council II).

It's a dead end.

A familiar pattern in the controversy.

Athanasius. assumes the Baptism of desire and invincible ignorance refer to de facto salvation, the stuff you can judge when you meet a Hindu, Muslim or Jew.

Supporters of Fr.Leonard Feeney , for whatever reason are silent, and let Athanasius, assume Lumen Gentium 16 refers to de facto salvation and not a concept(de jure).

Satan is happy as traditionalists argue over a triviality and non issue.

When there is the ex cathedra dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus how can Vatican Council II contradict this infallible teaching?

It would mean that we are interpreting Vatican Council II wrongly.

The issue is Lumen Gentium 16.

Why should we interpret Lumen Gentium 16 according to Fr.Hans Kung, Fr. William Most, Wikipedia etc when there is another interpretation? That of popes and Councils.

Fr.Leonard Feeney mentioned the Baptism of Desire and so spoke about it as a concept. Something you can discuss intellectually. He rejected it as knowable de facto; in actual fact when I meet a non-Catholic.

St.Thomas Aquinas mentioned invincible ignorance as a concept, a possibility known only to God and not as an actual fact that one can judge in a person. For St.Thomas Aquinas everyone had to de facto with no exception enter the Catholic Church to avoid Hell.

So similar would be the argument between Catholic Answers and supporters of Fr. Leonard Feeney.

It would be said that it is a mortal sin for that apologist of Catholic Answers to reject an ex cathedra infallible teaching. He would make a counter charge against those whom he thinks reject Vatican Council II.

And then? The correspondence would probably end as the past indicates.

Firstly, supporters of Fr.Leonard Feeney need to correct Catholic Answers on their interpretation of Vatican Council II as referring not to de facto salvation but de jure salvation. Here is the key.

If Vatican Council II refers to de jure salvation how can Karl Keatings Catholic Answers claim that the supporters of Fr.Leonard Feeney are in heresy?

There is no Catholic document which says that implicit faith refers to de facto and not de jure salvation.

The extra ordinary and ordinary magisterium always assumed that everybody with no exception needed to de facto enter the Catholic Church for salvation.Implicit faith was an exception known only to God. So this is how we interpret the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Vatican Council II and other Church documents.

So the supporters of Fr.Leonard Feeney’s charge of heresy still stands against Catholic Answers. They are opposing extra ecclesiam nulla salus which is an infallible teaching. It does not say that only those who KNOW about the Catholic Church need to enter to avoid Hell (Ad Gentes 7) but EVERYONE  WITH NO EXCEPTION. While Catholic Answers cannot call the supporters of Fr.Leonard Feeney heretics since they are not contradicting Vatican Council II and the Catechism of the Catholic Church - which refer to de jure salvation. They affirm the Council which is in accord with the dogma affirmed by Fr.Leonard Feeney.

So the supporters of Fr.Leonrd Feeney reject nothing from any Church document or tradition.
They are not opposed to Lumen Gentium or Catholic tradition.
