The former Archbishop of Munich's books published by Ignatius Press have an in- principle error.The German Joseph Ratzinger's books were written with an irrational premise to create an artificial rupture with Tradition on Vatican Council II, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Nicene Creed and other magisterial documents.There should be an apology from Pope Benedict and Ignatius Press.
Cardinal Reinhardt Marx and the German Bishops follow the same error in theology as the German pope. No statement has been issued by Ignatius Press, Pope Benedict or the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising.
At issue is not a different opinion or theology but -intentionally using a false premise ( invisible cases of the baptism of desire, for example, are physically visible) and inference ( they are objective exceptions to 16th century EENS) and conclusion ( Vatican Council II contradicts extra ecclesiam nulla salus(EENS), the past ecclesiology and an ecumenism of return). This is unethical but it was also Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger's reasoning when he wrote Redemptoris Missio and Dominus Iesus.
Here, I do not point out any specific fault in any of the books, which do have the error. I have not read most of his books published by Ignatius Press.However I am pointing out to a general error in the reasoning of Pope Benedict.So when he uses a false premise to create a false inference and non traditional conclusion it is not an opinion,like, on celibacy, but it is a type of lie.It is a factual error. It is objectively wrong.
It is deception.It is not a 'development of doctrine', out of the blue,or over time. Instead it is a new theology created upon a false base premise and its conclusion is outside the Church there is known salvation.
This is a specific and real issue.If Ignatius Press invited a Catholic to write a book on Vatican Council II without the false premise and inference, this new book would affirm the historical documents of Vatican Council II in harmony with the Syllabus of Errors and the Athanasius Creed, which Pope Benedict has to reject. 
For example, in ecclesiology Cardinal Ratzinger/Pope Benedict would reject the ancient teaching on the Catholic Church being the Ark of Noah that saves in the flood. Since for him the baptism of desire(BOD,baptism of blood(BOB) and invincible ignorance(I.I) refer to practical and literal exceptions to 16th century EENS. Ignatius Press approves of this ?
A Catholic could write a new book in which he interprets Vatican Council II rationally, in harmony with the old ecclesiology and the Church being the Ark of Noah that saves in the flood. So there would be no pre and post Vatican Council II ecclesiology, there would no more be an old ecclesiology and new ecclesiology at that same time and the ecclesiology would be the same at the Traditional Latin Mass and the Novus Ordo Mass.
Collegiality would no more be an issue since there would be unity in theology and ecclesiology. Vatican Council II ( Ad Gentes 7-all need faith and baptism for salvation) would support the old orthodox teaching on exclusive salvation in the Church.Exclusive salvation would not be contradicted by hypothetical cases of LG 8,LG 14, LG 16 etc.
MORATORIUM ON BVI BOOKS
So with the built-in error in all the books of the German pope, there could be a moratorium, extended to even Cardinal Robert Sarah(a Cushingite like Pope Benedict) until this issue is resolved. Since to use bad philosophy ( invisible people are literally visible in the present times) to create bad theology ( they are visible examples of people saved outside the Church) is obviously a lie.This is not Catholic.
This could be the work of a someone working with an agenda or representing a lobby. He is intentionally using a lie to reject the traditional interpretation of the dogma on no salvation outside the Church and then calling it a development of doctrine. Then he says that EENS today is no more like it was for the missionaries in the 16th century since there is a development with Vatican Council II ( interpreted with the false premise and inference), to create this 'development'.
How can Ignatius Press in principle accept books by authors who assume unknown cases of LG 8, LG 14, LG 16, UR 3, NA 2, GS 22 etc are known people, visible in 1965-2020 ?
What is the credibility of someone who keeps using this reasoning? Would he be honest on the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, Child Safety, homosexuality....
If this deceptive reasoning was that of Archbishop Augustine di Noia, Secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith(CDF), and he handed in a manuscript for a books with the irrational interpretation of Vatican Council II, would Ignatius Press accept it?
If in principle Archbishop Giacomo Morandi, interpreted magisterial documents with an irrational premise and inference, to create a rupture with Tradition, would Ignatius Press accept his manuscript for a book, since he is the Secretary of the CDF?
Ignatius Press needs to inform writers, like the Jesuits at Georgetown University, or cardinals, like Robert Sarah, not to send in manuscripts which interpret BOD, BOB and I.I as referring to physically visible non Catholics saved outside the Church in 1965-2020.
They could also ask Pope Benedict for a clarification and apology.-Lionel Andrades

The National Catholic Reporter's reviews of the books by Fr. Jared Wicks sj and Prof. Paul Lakeland on Vatican Council II, were flawed.The authors had made a mistake. Vatican Council II was interpreted by them with false reasoning.The NCR must admit it. Both authors read the Council superficially.Then they assumed hypothetical cases were objective exceptions to the past ecclesiology of the Church. This is irrational.
