They must choose the Rational Premise to interpret the Council and then they will be harmony with the past Magisterium which was inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is dishonest to use a False Premise to create a False Break with Tradition. This cannot be the work of the Holy Spirit but is human error.

The popes from Paul VI to Francis had a choice they could have interpreted the Council with the Rational Premise and then there would be no break with the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus as it was known to the missionaries in the 16^th century. So today Pope Francis can interpret Vatican Council II with the Rational Premise i.e. LG 8, LG 14, LG 16, UR 3, NA 2, GS 22 etc. refer to only hypothetical and speculative cases always. So they are not objective exceptions for the Athanasius Creed which says all need to be members of the Catholic Church for salvation. So Pope Francis must interpret Vatican Council II with the Rational Premise and he will be in harmony with the Syllabus of Error of Pope Pius IX.

 Sister Maria Philomena MICM, the Director of the St.Augustine Institute of Wisdom, which offers a Four- Year Course which leads to a diploma in General Catholic Studies, confirms that they interpret Vatican Council II with the Rational Premise and not the common Irrational Premise.

The SAI provides knowledge of Catholicism as studied in four major areas: Philosophy, Scripture, Sacred Doctrine and History .

A member of the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary she says that SAI also interprets the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus (EENS) with the Rational Premise.

So Vatican Council II has a hermeneutic of continuity with EENS, the Syllabus of Errors of Pope Pius IX and the Athanasius Creed. At SAI they affirm Vatican Council II in harmony with the past Magisterium of the Catholic Church. -Lionel Andrades
