Ignatius Press  needs to pull back Pope Benedict's book on ecclesiology since it was written with a false interpretation of Vatican Council II. A an irrationality premise was used. So an objective and factual error was created. The conclusion was non traditional and with the hermeneutic of rupture, artificially created.
Pope Benedict  confused what was invisible as being visible and then went on to make his familiar conclusions. He rejected the traditional ecclesiology which saw the Church as the only Ark of Noah that saves in the flood.Since there was known salvation outside the Catholic Church for him, with invisible cases of LG 8, LG 16 etc being visible he projected exceptions to 16th century extra ecclesiam nulla salus(EENS), the past ecclesiology and the old ecumenism of return. He created a new ecclesiology with terms like communion, mystery etc.

We now know that there are no objective cases of non Catholics saved outside the Church in 1965-2020 so Pope Benedict 's interpretation of Vatican Council II was wrong.

He could write another book on Vatican Council II and Ecclesiology in which he sees LG 8, LG 14, LG 16, UR 3, NA 2, GS 22 as being only hypothetical and not real people saved without 'faith and baptism'(AG 7) in 2020.So he would have to support the past ecclesiology with exclusive salvation. Then Vatican Council II would no have a hermeneutic of discontinuity with Tradition( Syllabus of Errors , Athanasius Creed, Catechism of St. Pius X on outside the Church no salvation etc).

Ignatius Press needs to acknowledge  that Pope Benedict  has made an objective mistake.
