The popes from Pius XII to Francis have made an official mistake and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith does not issue a formal apology: for 19 years false censures maintained

From February 13, 1953 to 1972 ( 19 years) no pope, cardinal or bishop told Fr. Leonard Feeney that there were no known exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus (EENS) and no one described the excommunication as unjust. They let the excommunication remain for 19 years  right through Vatican Council II (1965).No pope said that Vatican Council II does not contradict Fr.Leonard Feeney's traditional interpretation of EENS.Pope Pius XII and Pope John XXIII did  not announce that unknown and invisible cases of the baptism of desire, baptism of blood and invincible ignorance, could not be objective examples of salvation outside the Church and exceptions to EENS.
So Fr. Leonard Feeney was correct and the Jesuits at Boston College were wrong.Pope Paul VI did not announce that LG 8, LG 14, LG 16, UR 3, NA 2, GS 22 etc in Vatican Counciòl II did not contradict the strict interpretation of EENS and so Cardinal Richard Cushing was wrong and the Jesuit priest was correct.
Pope Paul VI lifted the excommunication of Fr. Leonard Feeney without apologising  for the error of the previous popes. He went ahead and interpreted Vatican Council II with the false premise.
Until today, the Church does not admit that there was an objective mistake in the Fr. Leonard Feeney Case. The Boston Heresy Case  refers to the heresy of the popes and Cardinal Cushing, the Archbishop of Boston.
