Bishop Athanasius Schneider is setting a bad example.He has placed only politically correct reports on this new website.Controversial subjects are avoided.Questions put to him on his new website are not answered.Neither will he comment on the blog posts I send him.
Now I am told by his assistant, that due to the bishop's pastoral engagements he cannot respond.So don't expect an answer at all.
Bishop Schneider interprets Vatican Council II with an irrational premise. It is not clear if he understands what I am saying or he simply ignores it.
He interprets the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus also with the same irrational premise.
He irrationally assumes invisible cases of the baptism of desire(BOD), baptism of blood(BOB) and being saved in invincible ignorance(I.I) are visible examples of salvation outside the Church.So for him LG 16 (invincible ignorance) and LG 14( case of the catechumen) contradict the strict interpretation of the dogma EENS( without the irrational premise). They also contradict most magisterial documents including the Creeds and the Catechisms.He has no comment on this over a few years.
Bishop Schneider refuses to say that all Christians need to enter the Catholic Church as members for salvation. He restricts himself to belief in Jesus being sufficient for salvation. This is Lutheran.It is also approved by the present two popes.Protestants believe in Jesus and contracept, abort and divorce. These are mortal sins for Catholics. Jehovah Witnesses believe in Jesus and have the baptism of water too but believe Jesus and the St. Michael are the same person. The evangelicals believe they have exclusive salvation and are critical of the Catholic Church.
Bishop Schneider also cannot say that all Muslims in his diocese need to enter the Church for salvation.Why cannot he say this ? Since BOD, BOB and I.I and LG 8, LG 16 etc are exceptions to EENS.For him they are a rupture with the EENS known to the missionaries in the 16th century when they offered the Traditional Latin Mass(TLM).Since BOD etc are exceptions to EENS for him he implies that there are personally known non Catholics saved outside the Church.He would know them. He can see people in Heaven saved without faith and baptism. This is irrational. However with this reasoning he produces a hermeneutic of rupture with Tradition(Syllabus of Errors, ecumenism of return).Most important of all this is politically correct with the Left. He remains non controversial.He then offers the Latin Mass with the new ecclesiology.
The bishop sets a bad example for Catholics. Since he tells Catholics to make sacrifices and affirm the Catholic Faith amid persecution, while he avoids the controversial subjects and is comfortable.
