For this Easter Triduum in Rome as per instructions of Cardinal Angelo Donatis. Vicar General, Rome Vicariate, the FSSP will not pray the Good Friday Prayer for the Conversion of the Jews. They will not use the Roman Missal. They are allowed to use the Missal of Pope Paul VI based upon Vatican Council II which says all need faith and baptism for salvation(AG 7, LG 14).
It says all need faith and baptism for salvation and this is not contradicted by
hypothetical cases of LG 8, LG 14,LG 16 etc. This is the rational reading of
Vatican Council II. So the message is the same as that of the Roman Missal and
the Good Friday prayer. There is no change in the ecclesiology of the Catholic
Church. There is no development of doctrine on salvation and other religions.
Since we are here interpreting Vatican
Council II rationally, and in a matter for fact way, there is a hermeneutic of
continuity with the Roman Missal and the Good Friday Prayer for the Conversion
of the Jews.
The old theology of the Roman Missal did
not confuse what is implicit as being explicit, invisible as being visible etc.
So Ad Gentes 7 and Lumen Gentium 14
which says all need faith and baptism for salvation ( to avoid Hell) is not
contradicted by hypothetical and invisible cases of LG 8, UR 3, NA 2, GS 22 etc
which only refer to invisible people in 2022.So even with the Missal of Pope Paul VI they can go back to Tradition.-Lionel Andrades
