Without the error in reasoning, we are back to the Old Theology. So the Catholic Church still teaches that all in general need to be Catholic, to avoid Hell.

Question:
Does the Catholic Church teach 'only those who know about Jesus and the Church' need to enter for salvation or everyone in general?
'Only those who know about Jesus and the Church'(LG 14) has no rational theological basis in the Catholic Church. This is the conclusion of the New Theology, Cushingite Theology, which is responsible for the hermeneutic of rupture in the interpretation of Vatican Council II.
The New Theology,  assumes there are known non Catholics saved outside the Church, past or present. It was as if someone could see and meet them saved in Heaven outside the Church.
This was the mistake in the Fr. Leonard Feeney Case when the Letter of the Holy Office 1949(LOHO) assumed invisible cases of the baptism of desire, baptism of blood and invincible ignorance are visible exceptions  to the traditional 'strict interpretation' of extra ecclesiam nulla salus(EENS).
So with this irrationality the dogma EENS was made obsolete and the New Theology emerged.
The New Theology says outside the Church there is salvation. So it was concluded that not every one needs to enter the Catholic Church but only those 'who know'.
Without  this error in reasoning, we are back to the Old Theology. So the Catholic Church still teaches that all in general need to be Catholic, to avoid Hell. All need to be members of the Catholic Church, with faith and the baptism of water(AG 7-Vatican Council II, Catechism of Pope Pius X, Cathechism of the Catholic Church(845,846 etc).
