The Catechism of the Catholic Church 846 and 1257 can be interpreted in two ways. Most people use the irrational version.

The Catechism of the Council of Trent mentions the strict interpretation of extra ecclesiam nulla salus(EENS) and also 'the desire theorof'.They  can be interpreted with Cushingism or Feneeyism. Cushingism is irrtational and commonly used.

The Catechism of Pope Pius X mentions being saved in invincible ignorance and also the necessity of the Catholic Church for exclusive salvation in the Catholic Church. There is no conflict when the theology is Feeneyite. There is no contradiction.

Feeneyism sees invisible cases as being physically invisible only.Cushingism see them as being physically visible. For Cushingites, invisible cases are physically visible examples of salvation outside the Church. They are practical exceptions to EENS.

Only God can see physically visible examples of salvation outside the Church. So for us humans they cannot be practical exceptions to  EENS.-Lionel Andrades
