Francis reimposes restrictions on Latin Mass, reversing decision of Pope Benedict

ROME — Pope Francis cracked down July 16 on the spread of the old Latin Mass, reversing one of Pope Benedict XVI's signature decisions in a major challenge to traditionalist Catholics who immediately decried it as an attack on them and the ancient liturgy.

Lionel: 'Crackdown?' They were correctly rejecting Vatican Council II interpreted with the false premise, inference and non traditional conclusion. Traditionalists do not have to reject Vatican Council II interpreted with the rational premise and whose conclusion is traditional.It was the pope who issued another document,Traditionis Custode,  based upon Vatican Council II interpreted with a fake premise.This is now becoming a public scandal.

Francis reimposed restrictions on celebrating the Latin Mass that Benedict had relaxed in 2007. Francis said he was doing so because Benedict's reform had become a source of division in the Roman Catholic Church and used as a tool by Catholics opposed to the Second Vatican Council, the 1962-65 event that led to wide reforms across the global church.

Under the new law, bishops must also determine if the current groups of faithful attached to the old Mass accept Vatican II. These groups can no longer use regular parishes for their Masses; instead, bishops must find an alternate location for them.

Lionel: The bishops are interpreting Vatican Council II with a false premise and then accepting the conclusion and imposing it upon the whole Church.

In addition, Francis said bishops are no longer allowed to authorize the formation of any new pro-Latin Mass groups in their dioceses. 

Lionel: When Vatican Council II is interpreted with the rational premise the conclusion is traditional. So the ecclesiology of Mass in the vernacular, is also traditional. It would support the pre-Vatican Council II (1965) ecclesiocentrism of the Catholic Church.The  Latin Mass-Novus Ordo Mass division will end.Also the division created with the false premise resulting in the traditionalist-liberal divide also ends. It is the false premise which creates 'the development of doctrine' and 'the parallel Church'.

Francis said he was taking action to promote unity and heal divisions within the church that had grown since Benedict’s 2007 document, Summorum Pontificum. He said he based his decision on a 2020 Vatican survey of all the world's bishops, whose "responses reveal a situation that preoccupies and saddens me, and persuades me of the need to intervene."

Lionel: The division has come into the Church with the false premise. Based upon the false premise a New Theology was created which says outside the Church there is known salvation. The New Theology thrives on the false premise. If Magisterial documents are interpreted without the false premise and with the rational alternative, the New Theology dies out. It was always artificial.

Francis said he was "saddened" that the use of the old Mass "is often characterized by a rejection not only of the liturgical reform, but of the Vatican Council II itself, claiming, with unfounded and unsustainable assertions, that it betrayed the Tradition and the 'true Church.'"

Lionel : Pope Francis interprets Vatican Council II with the false premise so there has to be a rupture with Tradition, the 'true Church'.

But for many, the writing was on the wall as soon as Francis stepped out onto the loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica after his 2013 election without the ermine-trimmed red velvet cape preferred by Benedict and a symbol of the pre-Vatican II church.

Lionel: There is no pre-Vatican Council II and post Vatican Council II Church when the false premise is avoided.The ecclesiology of the Church before and after the Council is the same. It is the false premise which creates division in the Church.Without the false premise there is no opportunity for the present liberalism of Pope Francis and Pope Benedict supported by the Left.

The writing on the wall is that there are two interpretations of Vatican Council II.This is a discovery. Now we know how to create the hermeneutic of continuity with Tradition.The secret is out. 1

There are two interpretations of Vatican Council II, one is rational and the other is irrational, one is interpreted with the false premise and the other without it.One is Magisterial and the other, the common one, is non Magisterial. It is the same for the Creeds and Catechisms.
