ARCHBISHOP OF BOSTON SUPPORTS ST.BENEDICT CENTERS INSTEAD OF SSPX

When Cardinal Sean O'Malley does not deny  that every one needs to enter the Catholic Church for salvation and there are no known exceptions he supports the St.Benedict Centers of Fr. Leonard Feeney. He contradicts the doctrinal position of the Society of St.Pius X.

The Society of St.Pius X (SSPX) is presently selling a book by Fr.Francois Laisney critical of Fr.Leonard Feeney. The  book  assumes that we know cases of non Catholics saved with the baptism of desire etc which are supposed to be explicit exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus.

The Archdiocese of Boston and the dioceses of Worcester and Manchester agree that there are no known exceptions to the literal interpretation of the dogma and to the traditional interpretation of Fr.Leonard Feeney.

The SSPX websites suggest that there are three baptisms known to us and so all three are explicit exceptions to the centuries-old interpretation of the dogma. So in the Profession of Faith they say 'I believe in one baptism for the forgiveness of sin' but mean three. Also vocations to the SSPX must accept that there is a visible baptism of desire.

The St.Benedict Centers of Fr.Leonard Feeney in Manchester, Worcester, Los Angeles etc hold that there is no visible baptism of desire and that there are no known exceptions to the literal interpretation of the thrice defined dogma.-Lionel Andrades
