Trinity Communications of Jeff Mirus and Catholic Culture is a legal entity that is spreading falsehood about the Catholic Faith.

Trinity Communications a non profit corporation which runs Catholic Culture is spreading errors about Catholic teaching and its President Jeffrey Mirus denies the Nicene and Athanasius Creed. This is expressed in an online report Tragic Errors of Fr.Leonard Feeney and reports on the website Catholic Culture. They are being used by Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN).

1. Unlike Fr. Leonard Feeney whom he criticizes Jeffrey  Mirus is unable to affirm the Athanasius Creed which says outside the church there is no salvation. Mirus refuses to endorse Cantate Domino, Council of Florence which was one of three ex cathedra dogmas on outside the Church there is no salvation. This has been refused in correspondence with him.

2. He also refuses to accept Vatican Council II (LG 14,AG 7) which indicates that Catholic Faith and the baptism of water is the ordinary means of salvation. Instead he believes invincible ignorance (LG 16) is the ordinary means of salvation and so the Native Americans were also saved before the Catholic missionaries went there.(See Tragic Errors of Fr.Leonard Feeney. It is placed on the internet by Mirus’ Trinity Communications ).
What the disobedient Feeney said amounted to this: he insisted that all who did not formally enter the Church would go to hell…Further, all adults who did not formally enter the Church - get their names on a parish register - would also go to hell, even if they never had a chance to hear there was a Church, e.g., those in the western hemisphere during the long centuries before Columbus. Therefore Feeney consigned literally millions upon millions to hell, even though He gave them no chance.- TRAGIC ERRORS OF LEONARD FEENEY by Fr. William Most -Trinity Communications 1994 and EWTN.(emphasis added)
3. The President of CatholicCulture.org Jeffrey Mirus refutes the Nicene Creed in which we affirm the belief that there is one baptism for the remission of sin. He assumes that the unbaptized in the Western hemisphere before the arrival of Columbus were all saved in general in invincible ignorance (Tragic Errors of Fr.Leonard Feeney).

The President of Catholic Culture  rejects the Nicene Creed with his interpretation Vatican Council II. With the baptism of water Original Sin is removed from the soul. Catholic Faith and the baptism of water are needed for all (LG14, AG7) this is expressed in the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. (1)

The Church does not say that those saved with the Word of God or in invincible ignorance are explicitly known to us or that this is the ordinary way of salvation as indicated by Mirus. Vatican Council II mentions that non Catholics can be saved implicitly and we accept this implicit salvation. Since salvation through the baptism of desire or in invincible ignorance is always implicit. So the 'explicit-implicit' interpretation of Mirus is a personal one and  is contrary to the Creed. Mirus does not know of any person on earth who does not need Catholic Faith and the baptism of water for salvation. Yet he considers those saved implicitly and known only to God as exceptions to the dogma

4.Redemptoris Missio n.55 says it must be remembered in inter religious dialogue that the Catholic Church is the 'ordinary means' of salvation. So it is not paganism and non Catholic religions as Catholic Culture would affirm. This is a denial of a basic Catholic teaching in Redemptoris Missio.(See Tragic Errors of Fr.Leonard Feeney)

5. The dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus, the Church Councils, popes and saints agree with Fr.Leonard Feeney. Yet Trinity Communications implies invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire are explicitly known and so exceptions to the dogma. The  the report Tragic Errors of Fr.Leonard Feeney falsely claims that the priest Leonard Feeney was in error for denying a teaching of the Catholic Church.

6. The Letter of the Holy Office 1949 referred to 'the dogma', the infallible teaching'. The dogma Cantate Domino, Council of Florence tells us that every one needs to be a visible member of the Church. The dogma does not mention explicit baptism of desire or invincible ignorance. So how could Fr. Feeney be in error as Trinity Communications alleges? (Tragic Errors of Fr.Leonard Feeney)

7. There is no Church document which says invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire are defacto known to us in personal cases. Neither does any Magisterial text claim that these are ‘exceptions’ to the dogma.Yet this is  suggested by Trinity Communications.

8. The Letter of the Holy Office 1949 mentions those who can be saved ‘in certain circumstances’ with the baptism of desire. It does not say that this contradicts ‘the dogma’ or ‘the infallible teaching’ to which the Letter also refers. Trinity Communications interprets the popes and Church Fathers as referring to those saved in general with the baptism of desire or in invincible ignorance.

9. If the baptism of desire was not dejure, accepted only in principle, and if it was de facto and known to us, in personal cases, then the Letter of the Holy Office would contradict itself. This is what  Trinity Communications implies.

10. De facto every non Catholic needs to enter the Church for salvation and there are no exceptions.( LG 14, AG 7, Cantate Domino, Dominus Iesus 20, CCC 845, 846 etc).

Since invincible ignorance is implicit, we accept it only in principle (de jure). It is not an exception to the dogma. It is a possibility known to God but not an exception to the dogma. For Trinity Communications these are exceptions.

11. Here is Ad Gentes 7,Vatican Council II.

7. This missionary activity derives its reason from the will of God, "who wishes all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, Himself a man, Jesus Christ, who gave Himself as a ransom for all" (1 Tim. 2:45), "neither is there salvation in any other" (Acts 4:12). Therefore, all must be converted to Him, made known by the Church's preaching, and all must be incorporated into Him by baptism and into the Church which is His body. For Christ Himself "by stressing in express language the necessity of faith and baptism (cf. Mark 16:16; John 3:5), at the same time confirmed the necessity of the Church, into which men enter by baptism, as by a door. Therefore those men cannot be saved, who though aware that God, through Jesus Christ founded the Church as something necessary, still do not wish to enter into it, or to persevere in it." Therefore though God in ways known to Himself can lead those inculpably ignorant of the Gospel to find that faith without which it is impossible to please Him (Heb. 11:6), yet a necessity lies upon the Church (1 Cor. 9:16), and at the same time a sacred duty, to preach the Gospel. And hence missionary activity today as always retains its power and necessity…
The passage emphasized in yellow tells us that Catholic faith and the baptism of water are the ordinary means of salvation for all. The passage in red mentions those who are lost and are known only to God. The passage in green mentions those who can be saved and are known only to God and this passage does not claim that these non Catholics are de facto known to us or that they are exceptions to the passage in yellow or the dogma.

The passage in yellow is defacto and that in green is de jure. When we read magisterial texts like the one above we have to use the defacto-dejure distinction otherwise there will be confusion. If you consider the passage in green as defacto it would contradict the passage in yellow.

Catholics seminarians who study Philosophy for two years are taught the Principle of Non Contradiction and are familiar with the defacto-dejure logic. If the passage in green is defacto and explicitly known to us as Trinity Communications and EWTN suggests, it would contradict the Principle of Non Contradiction. Even a Catholic layman would know that it is irrational.

12. The Trinity Communications report says Fr.Leonard Feeney was old so out of pity the excommunication was lifted. This is false. It can be seen from the report by Peter Vere Canon Lawyer who spoke to the priest who initiated the lifting of the excommunication without Fr. Feeney having to recant.(2)

13.Trinity Communications fails to mention that Fr.Leonard Feeney was not in heresy and yet the Archbishop of Boston Richard Cushing issued a decree against him and St. Benedict Center .He indicates that Vatican Council II contradicts the dogma as Fr.Leonard Feeney understood it and as expressed by the communites of Fr. Leonard Feeney today who are recognized by the Catholic Church.

14. Just as Archbishop Richard Cushing was in heresy for denying that everyone needs to be a visible member of the Church for salvation the local bishop denies the same through EWTN, so does Jeffrey Mirus of Trinity Communications..

15. Trinity Communications does not affirm the teaching of the Magisterium as it alleges.

The mission of CatholicCulture.org is to give faithful Catholics the information, encouragement, and perspective they need to become an active force for renewal in the Church and in society, working to shape an authentically Christian culture in a secular world.
Who We Are

CatholicCulture.org is run by a non-profit (501 c 3) corporation, Trinity Communications. The board and officers of Trinity Communications are Catholic laymen faithful to the Magisterium of the Church, who seek to enrich faith, strengthen the Church and form Catholic culture according to the mind of the Church.

Trinity Communications draws special inspiration from the outstanding Catholic vision and wisdom of Pope Benedict XVI.-from the website Catholic Culture.

Salvation for Non-Catholics : Not a New Idea :-By Dr. Jeff Mirus August 05, 2010 Catholic Culture

The Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation (Dei Verbum) cites St. Paul’s letter to the Romans when it asserts the possibility for salvation for non-Catholics and even for non-Christians...

2.
The actual lifting of Father’s excommunication was executed by Fr. Richard Shmaruk, a priest of the Boston Archdiocese, on behalf of Bishop Bernard Flanagan of Worcester. While visiting Boston about ten years ago, I spoke with Fr. Shmaruk and he personally corroborated the events that led to him reconciling Fr. Feeney with the Church.

On pages 259 to 262 of his book They Fought the Good Fight, Brother Thomas Mary Sennott diligently chronicles the reconciliation of Fr. Feeney, as well as the subsequent reconciliation of several of Father’s spiritual descendants. Brother Sennott quotes from two respectable Catholic news sources (The Advocate and the Catholic Free Press). I have independently confirmed the quotations and context of the primary sources.

Brother Sennottt also notes that Father’s memorial mass was celebrated by Bishop Bernard Flanagan in the Cathedral of St. Paul, Worcester. This would have given rise to scandal had Father not been fully reconciled with the Church. Br. Sennott’s book received an imprimi potest from Bishop Timothy Harrington of the Diocese of Worcester, meaning the book is free from doctrinal or moral error. Thus unless one is willing to declare oneself sedevacantist or sedeprivationist, the evidence is overwhelming that Fr. FR.LEONARD FEENEY RECITED THE ATHANASIUS CREED AND THE EXCOMMUNICATION WAS LIFTED

He believed everyone needs to be a visible, ‘card carrying’ member of the Catholic Church as taught in the Nicene Creed. The President of Catholic Culture cannot in reality affirm the Nicene and Athanasius Creed and criticizes Fr. Leonard Feeney. He opposes his co-editor Phil Lawler.

The President of Catholic Culture.org has not denied an email I sent him yesterday of the blog post ‘PRESIDENT OF CATHOLIC CULTURE DENIES THE NICENE CREED’ September 28,2011. http://eucharistandmission.blogspot.com/2011/09/president-of-catholic-culture-denies.html#links

It is placed on the internet by Mirus’ Trinity Communications ).

Philip F. Lawler, the Director, Catholic Culture has written a book titled "The Faithful Departed: The Collapse of Boston's Catholic Culture". In this book he mentions that Cardinal Richard Cushing, the Archbishop of Boston was compromised. The archbishop rejected a dogma of the Catholic Church wrote Phillip Lawler. Lawler is co editor at Catholic Culture and his views differ from that expressed by Jeff Mirus in the online article of Fr.William Most, Tragic Errors of Fr.Leonard Feeney.

A Catholic who denies the Creed is not to receive the Eucharist.

The article placed by Jeff Mirus on the internet contains many factual errors and can be noticed when one compares it with the report by Peter Vere, Canon Lawyer.

PRESIDENT OF CATHOLIC CULTURE DENIES THE NICENE CREED

The President of CatholicCulture.org Jeffrey Mirus refutes the Nicene Creed in which we affirm the belief that there is one baptism for the remission of sin.

Non Catholics need Catholic Faith and the baptism of water to avoid Hell but for him the unbaptized in the Western hemisphere before the arrival of Columbas were all saved without the baptism of water and Catholic Faith. For those natives, being saved in invincible ignorance (LG 16) was the ordinary means of salvation. Also, Catholic Faith and the baptism of water according to Vatican Council II (LG14, AG 7) was not the ordinary means of salvation for the Native Americans before the missionaries arrived there.

Redemptoris Missio n.55 says that it must be remembered in inter religious dialogue that the Catholic Church is the 'ordinary means' of salvation. So it is not  paganism and non Catholic religions as  Catholic Culture would affirm.

This heresy and dishonesty about the Catholic Faith is expressed in an article placed on the internet by EWTN and Jeffrey Mirus’ Trinity Communications. Mirus is the President of Catholic Culture.

This article on the internet also has other errors.( EWTN REMOVES FR.CORAPI BUT CONTINUES TO TEACH HERESY ON FR.LEONARD FEENEY WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE LOCAL BISHOP http://eucharistandmission.blogspot.com/2011/09/ewtn-removes-frcorapi-but-continues-to.html )

The President of Catholic Culture also rejects the Nicene Creed with his interpretation Vatican Council II.

Now, from the quoted passage in this Dogmatic Constitution, we see the Church asserting again that even non-Christians can be saved...- Catholic Culture
The Church does not say that those saved with the Word of God or in invincible ignorance are explicitly known to us or that this is the ordinary way of salvation. Vatican Council II mentions that non Catholics can be saved implicitly and we accept this implicit salvation. So this is an interpretation of Mirus which is contrary to the Creed. He does not know of any person  on earth who does not need Catholic Faith and the baptism of water for salvation. Yet he considers those saved implicitly and known only to God as exceptions to the dogma.

Jeffrey Mirus is also not willing to affirm the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. Venerable Pope Pius XII called this teaching ‘the dogma’, ‘the infallible teaching’. This again is a rejection of the Nicene Creed.

Jeffrey Mirus could claim that he affirms the Nicene Creed but in reality he rejects it when he rejects the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus including Cantate Domino, Council of Florence which he will not affirm.

He also rejects the Nicene Creed when he believes that those saved in invincible ignorance Lumen Gentium 16 (See online Tragic Errors of Fr. Leonard Feeney) or by the Word of God (Dei Verbum) are known to us explicitly and so are exceptions to the dogma Cantate Domino.

He also denies  the Nicene Creed when he assumes that those saved in invincible ignorance (LG 16) are saved by the ordinary means of salvation. (Tragic Errors of Fr. Leonard Feeney).

Neither is he willing to affirm LG 14, AG 7 which state that all need Catholic Faith and the baptism of water for salvation.

He rejects Redemptoris Missio which says the Catholic Church is the ordinary means of salvation i.e. Catholic Faith and the baptism of water (LG 14, Ag 7).

FR.LEONARD FEENEY WAS NOT IN HERESY BUT THE ARCHBISHOP OF BOSTON SUSPENDED HIM

Mother Angelica removed from EWTN, Michael Vorris criticized, bishops and priests transferred, magazine Christ to the World still suspended…

The Archbishop of Boston Cardinal Richard Cushing refused to affirm the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus as it was interpreted by Church Councils, the Church Fathers, popes, saints and Fr. Leonard Feeney of Boston. He denied that everyone needed to be a visible, explicit member of the Catholic Church for salvation with no exceptions. Instead he suggested that there were cases of non Catholics saved in invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire and this was explicitly known to us. He placed restrictions on the priestly faculties of Fr. Leonard Feeney even though the priest was not in heresy. He never corrected the Boston newspapers which reported that the Catholic Church has changed its centuries-old teaching on extra ecclesiam nulla salus. He refused to make the Letter of the Holy Office 1949 public for three years and even then would not lift the excommunication placed on Fr. Leonard Feeney for disobedience.-from APPEAL TO CONGREGATION FOR THE DOCTRINE OF THE FAITH, VATICAN: IT’S TIME TO CLARIFY THE BOSTON HERESY OF RICHARD CUSHING September 24, 2011,Blog : eucharistandmission

Here is the Decree of the Archbishop Suppressing Fr.Leonard Feeney and the St. Benedict Center.

Richard J. Cushing, Archbishop of Boston – Decree Regarding Leonard Feeney, April 18, 1949

Rev. Leonard Feeney, S.J., because of grave offense against the laws of the Catholic Church has lost the right to perform any priestly function, including preaching and teaching of religion.

Any Catholics who frequent St. Benedict’s Center, or who in any way take part in or assist its activities forfeit the right to receive the Sacrament of Penance and Holy Eucharist.

Given at Boston on the 18th day of April, 1949.

Decree of Archbishop of Boston
Michael Vorris has affirmed the dogma outside the church there is no salvation which was difficult for the Archbishop.

Mother Angelica was also removed from EWTN by the local bishop.Mother Angelica had a page placed on the EWTN website with the statements of the Church Fathers and popes on the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. Mother Angelica was removed by the local bishop and the page on extra ecclesiam nulla salus was replaced with Fr. William Most’s errors critical of the dogma and Fr. Leonard Feeney.

Just as the Archbishop of Boston misused his powers and placed restrictions on Fr. Leonard Feeney even though the priest was not in heresy, the bishop used his power to change the orthodox teaching on EWTN.

Just as Archbishop Richard Cushing was in heresy for denying that everyone needs to be a visible member of the Church for salvation the local bishop denies the same through EWTN. He also contradicts the Church Councils, the popes, the saints, the dogma and Vatican Council II.

As Cardinal Richard Cushing was in heresy for suggesting that there was explicitly known cases of non Catholics saved in invincible ignorance or with baptism of desire and so this contradicted the 'infallible teaching' the bishop and the EWTN are in heresy for suggesting that the Native Americans were saved before the arrival of the Catholic missionaries.

This is also the heresy of the Catholic Culture President-. EWTN, Trinity Communications, Jeffrey Mirus suggest Native Americans before the arrival of the missionaries were saved Blog: eucharistandmission

Till today the clarification on the false condemnation of Fr. Leonard Feeney has not been made by the Vatican cardinals or by our pope.

Fr. Frank Pavone was faithful to the bishops in dissent. He did not oppose the Eucharist being given to pro-abortion politicians as did Judy Brown of the American Life League. He would not affirm the dogma outside the church there is no salvation but preferred the heretical version on the website of Catholics United for the Faith, Steubenville. You’re not willing to accept the dogma outside the church there is no salvation and you want Catholics to accept the church's teaching on abortion.

Lay apologists on EWTN are denying the dogma with irrational contradictions and are holding on to their jobs.

Fr. Corapi - it’s a mystery. I hope he is reconciled to the developments and continues his ministry where God permits him.

I believe the expose of Fr. Maciel, the founder of the Legionaries of Christ was a great grace for him. He had the time to prepare himself spiritually before death. If he is still in Purgatory he has the hope of going to Heaven.

He is still being judged and condemned by the leftist media which advocates the holocaust of abortion in which over six million infants are killed and no one is fined, imprisoned or have had to pay compensation.

EWTN, Trinity Communications, Jefferey Mirus suggest Native Americans before the arrival of the missionaries were saved

EWTN, Trinity Communications, Jefferey Mirus are dishonestly presenting church teaching.
They indicate that the unbaptized in the Western hemisphere before the arrival of Columbas were all saved without the baptism of water and Catholic Faith. For them  being saved in invincible ignorance (LG 16) is the ordinary means of salvation. Also, Catholic Faith and the baptism of water (LG14,  AG 7) was not the ordinary means of salvation for the Native Americans before the missionaries arrived there.

They have been rejecting the Nicene Creed  (1) in which we pray ‘I believe in one baptism for the forgiveness of sin.’ The baptism of water is needed to forgive Original Sin, the stain of Adam.Through baptism, given to adults with Catholic Faith, we accept Jesus’ Sacrifice and salvation from Hell.

This heresy and dishonesty about the Catholic Faith is expressed in an article placed on the internet by EWTN and Jeffrey Mirus’ Trinity Communications. Mirus is the President of Catholic Culture.

CARDINAL LEVADA WHY DOES THE SSPX HAVE TO ACCEPT CORE DOCTRINES AND NOT FR.CHRISTIAN AT THE ANGELICUM, THE UNIVERSITY OF ST.THOMAS AQUINAS, ROME?

I have attended a class in ecclesiology of this Dominican priest at the University of St. Thomas Aquinas, Rome. Fr. Robert Christian OP will be teaching the new batch of students from next month.

He contradicts the Creed. We pray in the Creed 'I believe in one baptism for the forgiveness of sin.' This is a core teaching. The baptism of water is needed to remove Original Sin. We do not know any one on earth who does not need the baptism of water to remove Original sin. We do not know any case of implicit baptism of desire or someone saved in invincible ignorance.

Fr. Christian teaches that Fr. Leonard Feeney was excommunicated for saying everyone needs to be a visible member of the Church. i.e. everyone need the baptism of water and Catholic Faith for salvation.

He rejected the core teaching may be out of ignorance here.

Also this Dominican priest who has been teaching at the Angelicum for many years does not see that the Archbishop of Boston was in heresy when he assumed those saved in invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire are not implicit but explicitly known to us. They contradict he assumes Fr. Leonard Feeney and the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus.

CDF please clarify this error of the Dominicans, SSPX and thousands of seminarians and other religious.

This priest should be teaching the students that all Muslims, Jews and other non Catholics are oriented to Hell unless they convert into Catholic Church.Since the ordinary mans of salvation is Catholic Faith and the baptism of water (AG 7.LG 14).

He rejects a core teaching in the Creed. He rejects the ex cathedra dogma extra eccleisam nulla salus also Vatican Council II. This is a rejection of post Vatican Council II Magisterial documents like Dominus Iesus 20, CCC 846 etc.

The Dominicans, including Fr. Christian have canonical status even though they do not affirm this core teaching as did Fr. Leonard Feeney.

Is an SSPX priest permitted to say in public like Fr. Leonard Feeney that every non Catholic needs to enter to enter the Church for salvation and there are no known persons saved with the baptism of desire or in invincible ignorance? So those saved implicitly with the baptism of desire etc are not exceptions to the dogma?

For Fr. Robert Christian those who know about the Church only and do not enter are oriented to Hell (Vatican Council II). It is Jesus who decides who ‘knows’ and who is invincible ignorance. The ordinary means of salvation for all according to Vatican Council II is Catholic Faith and the baptism of water (LG 14,AG 7).
I will send this blog post to the Angelicum and  but I do not expect any answer.

APPEAL TO CONGREGATION FOR THE DOCTRINE OF THE FAITH, VATICAN: IT’S TIME TO CLARIFY THE BOSTON HERESY OF RICHARD CUSHING

CDF THERE IS NO EXPLICIT BAPTISM OF DESIRE AND NO TEXT MENTIONS IT: THERE IS NO KNOWN EXCEPTION TO THE DOGMA EXTRA ECCLESIAM NULLA SALUS OR TO VATICAN COUNCIL II (LG 14, AG 7)

PLEASE CORRECT THE ERROR OF EWTN, USCCB, WIKIPEDIA AND NUMEROUS OTHERS.

To His Eminence William Cardinal Levada,
Prefect, Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Vatican.

Your Eminence,

Leonard Feeney for disobedience.

The same error of Richard Cushing is being made by Eternal Word Television Network(EWTN) in a report its has placed on the internet titled Tragic Errors of Fr. Leonard Feeney. The article by Fr.William Most is also available on EWTN's website.

Similarly the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) in the Notification on Fr. Peter Phan has stated that every one needs to enter the Church for salvation except for those in invincible ignorance etc. They are implying that invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire are exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus and that we know explicit cases.

Wikipedia, the encyclopedia on the Internet makes the same error and this is a false catechesis of Catholics and misinformation about the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Kindly address this issue and prevent the slander of a good priest who was faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church on extra ecclesiam nulla which Venerable Pope Pius XII referred to as 'the dogma', the 'infallible teaching'(Letter of the Holy Office 1949).

In Christ

TO INTERPRET IMPLICIT FAITH (BAPTISM OF DESIRE ETC) AS REFERRING TO DE FACTO SALVATION WOULD BE HERESY- Don Massimiliano dei Gaspari F.I, Superior and Italian priest in Rome

EWTN REMOVES FR.CORAPI BUT CONTINUES TO TEACH HERESY ON FR.LEONARD FEENEY WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE LOCAL BISHOP

Vatican Council II indicates Catholic Faith and the baptism of water is the ordinary means of salvation while EWTN suggests it is invincible ignorance. The dogma on extra ecclesiam nulla salus, the Church Councils, popes and saints agree with Fr.Leonard Feeney.EWTN implies invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire are explicitly known and so exceptions to the dogma.

EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network) recently pulled down Fr.Corapi’s programs on the advice of the bishop however it continues to maintain an article on the network titled Tragic Errors of Fr.Leonard Feeney.

Feeney be in error?

Cantate Domino, Council of Florence could also be considered a censure of the Archbishop of Boston to whom the Letter of the Holy Office was sent. Since, ‘the dogma’ does not mention like the Archbishop, those saved in invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire. The  baptism of desire etc is always implicit it does not contradict the centuries- old interpretation of extra ecclesiam nulla salus. They are not exceptions. So how could Fr. Leonard Feeney be in error for saying everybody needs to be a visible member of the Church and there are no exceptions? This is what the dogma states as do the popes, Church Fathers and saints.

There is no Church document which says invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire are defacto known to us in personal cases. Neither does any Magisterial text claim that these are ‘exceptions’ to the dogma.

The Letter of the Holy Office 1949 mentions those who can be saved ‘in certain circumstances’ with the baptism of desire. It does not say that this contradicts ‘the dogma’ or ‘the infallible teaching’ to which  the Letter also refers.

If the baptism of desire was not dejure, accepted only in principle, and if it was de facto and known to us, in personal cases then the Letter of the Holy Office would contradict itself. This is what EWTN implies with its explicit, exceptions.

The dejure-defacto distinction is there already in the Magisterial texts e.g. Letter of the Holy Office, Vatican Council II (Ad Gentes 7, Lumen Gentium 14), Catechism of the Catholic Church 1257,846 etc.

LG 16 (invincible ignorance) is not the ordinary means of salvation and neither is it even an exception to the dogma as EWTN suggests..

So people of this sort who follow the law on their hearts are members of the Church, and as such, can be saved. This fits especially well with the words of Vatican II in LG 16.-EWTN

If the passage in green is defacto and explicitly known to us as EWTN suggests, it would contradict the Principle of Non Contradiction. Even a Catholic layman would know that it is irrational.

EWTN is promoting first class heresy. In the Creed we pray , ‘I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church’. The Holy Spirit has guided the Church to proclaim the ex cathedra dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. The dogma does not mention invincible ignorance or the baptism of desire. In the Creed we pray'I believe in one baptism for the forgiveness of sin'. The baptism of water is needed to remove Original Sin. EWTN implies that the American Natives were saved in general in invincible ignorance and so did not need Catholic Faith and the baptism of water for salvation.

EWTN and Fr.William Most mention that the Church teaches invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire. Where is the Church document, I repeat, which says those saved in invincible ignorance or with the baptism of desire are explicitly known to us or contradict the dogma? EWTN contradicts the Creed.

PEOPLE WHO USE THREAT OF WAR, POLITICAL ACTION AND CLOSURE OF DIALOGUE TELL CHURCHES THERE SHOULD BE NO COERCION

Therefore those men cannot be saved, who though aware that God, through Jesus Christ founded the Church as something necessary, still do not wish to enter into it, or to persevere in it."-Ad Gentes 7,Vatican Council II

According to the Anti Defamation League website, the ADL welcomes a document released earlier this year which denounces coercive Christian missionary activity and religious persecution.

The ADL it should be noted was active in calling for an end to dialogue with the Vatican unless Church teaching was changed on the Good Friday prayer for the Convrsion of the Jews. The pro ADL newspapers reported there was a threat of war between Israel and the Vatican. This was of course not considered coercive.

The website also has a report presently full of hate against the Society of St. Pius X.

The ADL has been telling the Catholic Church that its teachings are insufficient and inadequate and need to be changed. This is routine interference in the teachings of the Catholic Church.

The  Church is told to accept the reforms of Vatican Council II without ADL mentioning any text from Vatican Council II which refer to these reforms.

The uncomfortable passages related to ADL and the Jews in Vatican Council II are not mentioned. According to Ad Gentes 7 those who know about Jesus and the Church and yet do not enter are oriented to Hell. The ADL-people ‘know’. Abraham Foxman also lived with a Catholic family as a youth  Vatican Council II indicates he is oriented to Hell.

The document which ADL welcomes was also probably issued under the political and military threat of the enemies of the Church.

As individual lay Catholics we know we are obliged to follow the teachings of the Catholic Church which are consistent with Tradition, the Bible and the Magisterium.Catholics know what the Church teaches. It never changes. Objective reality at the supernatural level never changes. There still is Hell and Heaven and the conditions for going there are told to us by the Catholic Church only.

Vatican Council II indicates that Catholic Faith and the baptism of water are the ordinary means of salvation (AG 7,LG 14) which means millions of non Catholics are oriented to Hell. This would include Foxman and many others. This is the official teaching of the Church and not a private view like those of ADL and others.

SSPX COULD AGREE WITH ADL

The Anti Defamation League has urged the Vatican to ensure that the Society of St.Pius X (SSPX) accepts the Catholic Church’s official teachings before they are fully accepted in the Roman Catholic Church.

According to the ADL website ADL Urges Vatican To Ensure Anti-Jewish Sect Accepts Teachings Of Vatican II Before They Are Welcomed Back September 16, 2011, the Vatican was asked to make sure that the SSPX accepts the ‘landmark reforms of the Second Vatican Council II.

This is an opportunity for the SSPX to cite Vatican Council II text, which the ADL never does, and show how they accept the official teaching of the Catholic Church with respect to Vatican Council and other Magisterium teaching.

The Superior General of the SSPX Bishop Bernard Fellay in an interview after his meeting with Cardinal William Levada  said that Pope Benedict XVI sees Vatican Council II as a continuation and not a break from Tradition and the teachings of the Church over centuries.

Since the issue is the Jews , and of course other religions, the SSPX could quote Vatican Council II and  pre and post Vatican Council II Magisterial texts, affirming the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. This would be the official teaching of the Roman Catholic Church as demanded by the ADL.
