MUSLIM YOUTH PLACES TWO ROSES FOR OUR LADY AT PIAZZA SPAGNA

0288_ImmaculateConception_PiazzaDiSpagna
I was there at Piazza Spagna at about 8 p.m, about an hour back. The crowds had gone. The Holy Father must have been there early in the evening.

I had meant to be there but I forgot all about it. The Holy Father was there to place the wreath at the top of the column. At that time I was at the computer typing the Medugorje report for this blog.

At the base of the column which carries high on top the statue of Our Lady, there were wreaths placed by different organisations, municipal and religious.

There was a Muslim youth one of the many Bangladeshis who sell flowers in that area, who gave two roses, a white and red, to an elderly Italian woman and gestured to her to place it at the foot of the column. No words were said but when the elderly woman had moved a few steps forward with the roses and turned around to confirm if he really meant that she should place the roses there,he gestured yes.So she went ahead and he stood watching silently.

Our Lady is special for Muslims too.I once asked a Muslim acquaintance in Rome, who had a Quran, to read me the Sura e Mariam. It was beautiful listening to the reference to Our Lady in a series of passages dedicated only to her.He was referring in his holy book, to my Virgin Mary, my Mother of God, my Mother.

At Medugorje Our Lady says we are all her children, Muslims, Orthodox Christians.....and it is we humans who have made the differences. She also says that if we only knew how much she loved us - we would cry for joy.

This youth and so many Muslims at Our Lady's shrines in the East have transcended the differences. And this is how it should be. Today hundreds of thousands of Muslims and other non Catholics will be there at Our Lady's shrines in the East and there number will be more than the pilgrims at Lourdes and Fatima.Love for Our Lady and Jesus transcends differences- though differences must be there, because of the nature of life and the supernatural realities.

That little gesture at the human level says so much. It's something I have noticed in other Muslims here, too. It's the sense of the sacred and love and respect for Jesus and Our Lady transcending the pain, differences and difficulties, especially for those living in a foreign environment like Rome.

CARDINAL RUINI IS IN A CONTROVERSIAL SITUATION: HE ALLEGEDLY CAN SEE THE DEAD IN HEAVEN AND NOW HAS TO DECIDE IF THE MEDUGORJE SEERS CAN REALLY SEE OUR LADY IN HEAVEN

The Vatican spokesman contacted Cardinal Ruini who, ending rumours, confirmed that the Medugorje Commission report will not be announced this month.

Pope Benedictus XVI january,20 2006 (19).JPG
The situation is controversial since Cardinal Camillio Ruini, President of the Vatican Commission investigating Medugorje, believes we can see the dead saved in invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire. These cases it is implied are exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus and Tradition. It is a rupture with Tradition.

We know that this is an irrational belief of the cardinal. The dead are not visible to us. Those who are saved with the baptism of desire etc are known only to God.

So Vatican Council II (LG 16 etc) does not really contradict the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus defined by three Church Councils and which Pope Pius XII called an ‘infallible teaching’ (Letter of the Holy Office 1949).

Medugorje itself is controversial on this issue.According to a message received by one of the seers, Vicka, most people go to heaven according to Our Lady.

While according to a message received by Marija, Our Lady recommended reading the book The Poem of the Man God by Maria Valtorta. This book which describes the infancy of Our Lady is in agreement with the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus as it was traditionally interpreted by the Church.

So who is correct Vicka or Marija?

The Franciscans at Medugorje who formerly approved the messages and are spiritual directors of the visionaries, would agree it is Vicka. So would members of the Commission and of course Cardinal Camillio Ruini.

Since for all of them the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus is contradicted by the explicitly known baptism of desire and being saved in invincible ignorance.

It is now known to many that these cases of implicit salvation are known only to God.So they are irrelevant to the literal interpretation of the dogma according to Fr. Leonard Feeney of Boston. He was excommunicated for disobedience and not heresy. The Letter of the Holy Office 1949 does not state that implicit desire etc is explicit or that it contradicts the dogma. This has to be implied. The secular media has wrongly implied that these cases are explicit and so contradict the dogma on salvation.

Assuming Our Lady did say that most people go to Hell, as was said by Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew (enter through the narrow gate for the road to Hell is wide and most people take it), and the saints, the Curia would rejectMedugorje. If Our Lady said most people go to Hell the apparitions could have been banned. Since the pope and his Curia assume that there are exceptions to the dogma. They assume implicit salvation is explicit and so Vatican Council II contradicts the dogma. LG 16(invincible ignorance), LG 8(elements of sanctification), AG 11(seeds of the word) and other references to implicit salvation are considered explicitly known. Hence Cardinal Ruini can also see the dead.

It is the Vatican Curia which decides on Medugorje and it is they who are making an objective mistake. It is a fact that we cannot see the dead.

So if Our Lady contradicted the Curia who are in error, the apparitions would have been prohibited and Medugorje would not have become the powerful movement it presently is in the Catholic Church.

When I contacted a Medugorje spokesman he said that there was no message of Our Lady to Marija regarding the book The Poem of the Man God.I thought this was an extra ordinary decision.

I remember a group discussion conducted in 1994-95 by a Croatian priest in Medugorje, who now lives in the USA. He was very critical of the book. It was at that time generally accepted that Marija had received this message. So I was there along with another pilgrim, defending this book, while this priest , who looked liked Padre Pio and had long lines of people going to him for Confession, was against The Poem of the Man God.

We come back to the basic question: How can Cardinal Camillio Ruini decide on Medugorje when he assumes human beings can see the deceased on earth in 2012?

Why would Medugorje pilgrims accept his decision when this information about him becomes public?

I sincerely believe in the traditional interpretation of the dogma and I sincerely believe that Medugorje is a special place and Our Lady has been appearing there in a special way.

I will respect and accept the decision of the Commission.-Lionel Andrades
