More of the same from the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate

FFI meets Archbishop Muller's standard of a 'heretical' interpretation of Vatican Council II.

The Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate are organizing a conference on Dec.7,Friday in Florence,Italy. There will be the presentation of the book by Father Serafino M.Lanzetta F.I. The book on Vatican Council II and the Tradition of the Church is titled Iuxta Modum. It is expected to uphold a common error of the Franciscan Friars and Sisters of the Immaculate.

In evidenza
They are a religious community which cannot affirm implicit salvation along with the literal interpretation of the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. Some of their priests do but Father Lanzetta is not one of them. In public none of them will affirm the traditional dogma on salvation.

In a recent article in the FFI weekly Il Settimanale di Padre Pio he held the position outside Jesus there is no salvation. He is one of many theologians who deny the dogma outside the church there is no salvation and the necessity of formal membership in the Church to avoid Hell.He seemed to endorse it sometime back in a theological journal.(1) There must have been criticism from his be-prudent community members and superiors.

Fr.Lanzetta considers implicit desire etc as being explicit and an exception to the dogma. It's this error which runs though his analysis of Vatican Council II .

Last week officials of the Vatican Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments and the Congregation for Education said that the dead are not visible to us. These officials are contradicting Father Lanzetta's position on this issue. We cannot see the deceased saved in implicit invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire.

The Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate theology is soaked with this error of their being exceptions to the dogma on salvation and this has influenced the community's understanding of Vatican Council II.So their understanding of Vatican Council II is a break from the past. This is heretical.

They cannot still affirm implicit salvation being compatible with the literal interpretation of the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. There is no violation of the Principle of Non Contradiction i.e implicit desire and explcit, visible entry into the Catholic Church. They innterpret the Council as a break from the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus and the Syllabus of Errors.

According to two former Rectors of the FFI community in Rome 'presently we cannot know anyone saved in invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire' and that 'these are de jure cases which we accept in principle. They are not defacto known cases.' This would make Vatican Council II a traditional Council. Since LG 16 (invincible ignorance/ good conscience), LG 8 (elements of sanctification), AG 11( seeds of the Word) etc are dejure cases, practically unknowable in 2012 and so not in conflict with the dogma defined by Church Councils.

So expected is another FFI conference on Vatican Council II which will not identify the false premise being used by the community in analysing the Council. The false premise which leads to a heretical interpretation of Vatican Council.A rupture from the past.

The FFI understanding of Vatican Council II is that of the liberal dissenters. For them there is only one interpertation of the Council and it is that of the dissenters. So they like Rorate Caeili, SSPX etc project one analysis of Vatican Council II.

No liberal protests when the FFI affirms the liberal version of Vatican Council II. However if they affirm the dogma in accord with the Council there will be protests.

So Fr.Lanzetta does not affirm the dogma in public and continues to criticize and accept one interpretation of the Council. Instead of correcting the error they are writing books with the error. This  is pleasing for the liberals since it indicates that there is only one interpretation of the Council.

Bruno Gherardini and Roberto dei Mattei who feature on FFI media have one thing in common with dissenters. They assume that implicit salvation possibilities mentioned in Vatican Council II are explicitly known to us and so contradict Tradition.

Mons. Antonio Livi, Emeritus professor of Philosophy at the St.John Lateran Pontifical University, Rome will preside. He too uses the heretical liberal analyis with the false premise. The text of the Council does not say that explictly known cases of implicit salvation. Neither does the text say that these cases are exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. The traditionalists imply all this as do the liberals.

Fr.Alessandro Appolonio F.I and journalist Alessandro Gnocchi will participate at the conference this week.

I will send this blog post to e-mail: fifirenze@davide.it  and no one is likely to respond.
