Awesome video meditation on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass!

Awesome video meditation on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass!

http://veneremurcernui.wordpress.com/2013/07/02/awesome-video-meditation-on-the-holy-sacrifice-of-the-mass/

...I pray you find this as edifying, and as moving, as I did. Really, try to chill out, maybe darken the lights, and really focus on this video. Truly, it is a meditation. The video shows clearly how the Traditional Mass follows the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ and other elements of His earthly life. It was truly brilliant to interpose scenes from The Passion of the Christ with the TLM:
A description of the symbolism, from the video’s creator. I should add that these descriptions of the symbolism are just ONE of the many layers of symbolism that exist in the various actions and prayers of the Mass. The Mass is such a theological feast the people can, and do, spend literally entire books describing it and still never “explain” it all. That richness stems from the fact that the Traditional Mass is not the work of human hands, but is a divine gift with many key parts, it is believed, coming straight from the Apostles down to us:

After previewing the movie for my family, they expressed concern about some of the symbolism, particularly the scene of the Kiss of Judas and the priest kissing the altar. Please know that I based everything on ancient Catholic teaching. For example:

“When the priest kisses the altar, he is kissing Christ, *faithfully,* in contradiction to the kiss of betrayal by Judas.” In a sense, the priest is making atonement for the betrayal of Judas.

“The priest reading the Introit represents Christ being falsely accused by Annas and blasphemed.”

“The priest going to the middle of the altar and saying the Kyrie Eleison represents Christ being brought to Caiphas and these three times denied by Peter.”

“The priest saying the ‘Dominus vobiscum’ represents Christ looking at Peter and converting him.”

“The priest saying the ‘Orate Fratres’ represents Christ being shown by Pilate to the people with the words ‘Ecce Homo.’”

“The priest praying in a low voice represents Christ being mocked and spit upon.”

“The priest blessing the bread and wine represents Christ being nailed to the cross.”

“The priest elevating the host represents Christ being raised on the cross.”

“The priest goes to the Epistle side and prays signifying how Jesus was led before Pilate and falsely accused.”

“The priest goes to the Gospel-side, where he reads the Gospel, signifying how Christ was sent from Pilate to Herod, and was mocked and derided by the latter.”
“The priest goes from the Gospel side again to the middle of the altar – this signifies how Jesus was sent back from Herod to Pilate.”

“The priest uncovers the chalice, recalling how Christ was stripped for the scourging.”

“The priest offers bread and wine, signifying how Jesus was bound to the pillar and scourged.”

“The priest washes his hands, signifying how Pilate declared Jesus innocent by washing his hands.”

“The priest covers the chalice after the Offertory recalling how Jesus was crowned with thorns.”

“The priest breaking and separating the host represents Christ giving up His spirit.”

“The priest saying the Agnus Dei represents Christ being acknowledged on the cross as the Son of God by many bystanders.”

“The priest saying the Last Gospel, which are the first words of the beloved disciple St. John, represents sending the Apostles into all parts of the world to preach the Gospel and preserving His Holy Church for all time.”

A couple of random notes from me, TantrumFrogo:

I so love the hymn from the Good Friday Mass during the scene of Christ’s scourging at the pillar – the Miserere Mei. When I hear it well sung like in the video @ 9:00 - 9:30, it seems like angels crying.

My favorite character in the Passion of the Christ, beyond, ummmm…….GOD!, was Abenader, the Roman centurion who converted on Golgotha.

“Ecce homo”

“Hoc est corpus meum”

“Hic est calix sanguinis mei”

One major casue of liberalism in faith and morals is the Richard Cushing Error

In morals it is assumed  we can physically see exceptions of 'deliberate consent' and 'full freedom' and 'probablism and equiprobablism 'theories, which are known exceptions to mortal sin.

In faith it is assumed we can physically  see exceptions saved in invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire  so all do not need to convert visibly into the Church. We  have known exceptions to the dogma on salvation.

 MORALS
We cannot see the dead! We cannot say in general that all who are in mortal sin cannot be in mortal sin since we personally know they are not in full communion or have deliberate consent, two of the three conditions listed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

1857 For a sin to be mortal, three conditions must together be met: “Mortal sin is sin whose object is grave matter and which is also committed with full knowledge and deliberate consent.”

If there is grave matter it's a mortal sin!  Only one condition in three is relevant to know when a sin is a mortal sin. When you see a Catholic woman in a bikini on the beach you cannot claim to know the other two conditions.

When a Catholic is immodestly dressed  or an unmarried couple are living together  ,it is a mortal sin.The outer action indicates the subjective thinking(Veritatis Splendor).Only with the Richard Cushing false premise, it could be said "No it is not a mortal sin since we cannot know when a person has full freedom or there is deliberate consent." Of course you cannot know !That is why it is irrelevant to mortal sin.Mortal sin is mortal sin.

Similarly the liberals say there is  moral probabilism and equiprobabilim. Then throw away the traditional teaching on mortal sin. Veritatis Splendor  states mortal sin is mortal sin. If we consider probablism theories as known exceptions to the traditonal teaching on mortal sin we could be making the Richard Cushing Error. We are  assuming that these probability theories  are known in personal cases and so these exceptions change the general rule.If probabilism is an exception we cannot know which permutation God will use on the Day of Judgement and who is an exception to mortal sin and will be saved. We cannot say that any particular person will be saved with mortal sin.We don't know of any such case in 2013.

Based on the false premise, the liberals got probabilism taught at Catholic universities and seminaries in moral theology. It was used to justify the Soho Mass in the Archdiocese of Westminister, England (1)

FAITH
Similarly, on faith and salvation liberals reject the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus since they assume that being saved in invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire are physically visible  exceptions. This was the precise error of the Archbishop of Boston Cardinal Richard Cushing in the Fr.Leonard Feeney case. For him being saved in invincible ignorance was relevant  to the literal interpretation of the dogma on salvation.

Similalry when Pope Pius XII in Mystici Corporis refers to being saved with  implicit desire or invincible ignorance he does not state that these cases are physically visible to us and so are exceptions to the dogma. However this  error is made by many liberals. The make an  objective error on then they criticize Fr.Leonard Feeney.

Fr,Leonard Feeney  was excommunicated for disobedience and was not asked to recant when the excommunication was lifted.Assuming he was excommunicated for heresy as the liberal media alleges, then it means the cardinal who issued the Letter of the Holy Office 1949 made an objective mistake. He assumed we can physically see the dead-saved.

When Vatican Council II states 'Therefore though God in ways known to Himself can lead those in culpably ignorant of the Gospel to find that faith without which it is impossible to please Him ' (AG 7) it is not a known exception to 'Therefore, all must be converted to Him, made known by the Church's preaching, and all must be incorporated into Him by baptism and into the Church which is His body. For Christ Himself "by stressing in express language the necessity of faith and baptism (cf. Mark 16:16; John 3:5), at the same time confirmed the necessity of the Church, into which men enter by baptism, as by a door. '(AG 7).There is no conflict, unless, one is using the Richard Cushing Error.Only with the error of the false premise would these two statements in Ad Gentes 7 be contradictory.

When the Catechism of the Catholic Church states 'all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body'(CCC 846)  it is not in conflict with 'Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation... He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism as through a door' (CCC 846). There is no contradiction here, unless, one is making the Richard Cushing Error.

Many religious and lay Catholics are unknowingly making this error of the visible-dead and they assume that this is the teaching of the Catholic Church. The Holy Spirit cannot teach an irrationality.

This error is made on the Internet Discussion Board True Catholic by Fr.John George of the Archdiocese of Sydney. It is common among priests in Australia and England who have been using the Richard Cushing Error to even the change the Church's traditional teaching on homosexuality.-

1.
14. Homosexuals have the same need for the Sacraments as the heterosexual. They also have the same right to receive the Sacraments. In determining whether or not to administer Absolution or give Communion to a homosexual, a pastor must be guided by the general principles of fundamental theology, that only a certain moral obligation may be imposed. An invincible doubt, whether of law or fact, permits one to follow a true and solidly ‘probable opinion’ in favour of a more liberal interpretation. - According to the Archdiocese of Westminister Soho Mass Pastoral Council announcement on the Internet
