Popes since Paul VI interpreted Vatican Council II with a false premise.The College of Cardinals do the same : the CDF and Bishop Athansius Schneider make the same error.

On the question of a heretical pope




If a pope spreads doctrinal errors or heresies, the Divine structure of the Church already provides an antidote: in such a case there are stepping into the breach the substituting ministry of the representatives of the episcopacy and the invincible sensus fidei of the faithful.
Lionel: The popes since Paul VI have intepreted Vatican Council II with a false premise. They had a choice and still have it. They can interpret the Councl with LG 8, LG 14, LG16 etc, referring to hypothetical and speculative cases only.
The same error is being made by the cardinals and bishops including Bishop Athanasius Schneider. He could issue a correction.

 In this issue the numerical factor is not decisive. It is sufficient to have even a couple of bishops proclaiming the integrity of Faith and correcting thereby the errors of a heretical pope.
Lionel: Bishop Athanasius Schneider could announce that LG 8, LG 14, LG 16 etc refer to only hypothetical cases in 1965-2020.So they are not objective exceptions to the traditional teaching on the Catholic Church having exclusive salvation.

 It is sufficient that bishops instruct and protect their flock from the errors of a heretical pope and their priests and the parents of Catholic families will do the same. 
Lionel: The whole Church is interpreting Magisterial documents (Creeds, Catechisms, Vatican Council II etc) with the false premise and inference to create an artificial rupture with Tradition ( Syllabus of Errors of Pope Pius IX etc).Bishop Schneider is doing the same.He could make a public correction.

Furthermore, since the Church is also a supernatural reality and a mystery, a unique supernatural organism, the Mystical Body of Christ, bishops, priests, and lay faithful – besides corrections, appeals, professions of faith, and public resistance – necessarily also have to do acts of reparation to the Divine Majesty and acts of expiation for the heretical acts of a pope. According to the Dogmatic Constitution Lumen gentium (cf. n. 12) of the Second Vatican Council, the entire body of the faithful cannot err in matters of belief, when from the Bishops down to the last of the lay faithful they show universal agreement in matters of faith and morals. Even if a pope is spreading theological errors and heresies, the Faith of the Church as a whole will remain intact because of the promise of Christ concerning the special assistance and permanent presence of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the truth, in His Church (cf. John 14: 17; 1 John 2: 27).
Lionel: Lumen Gentium 14 has an error. The Council Fathers assumed there were known non Catholics saved outside the Church in invincible ignorance.This was also the mistake in the Letter of the Holy Office 1949(LOHO). 
The error is repeated in LG 14.It suggests that only those who know about Jesus and the Church and do not enter are oriented to Hell.But we humans cannot judge who is an exception.The rule is all need faith and baptism for salvation and there can be no known exceptions.This was the original teaching in the Catholic Church.
Similarly the Council Fathers assumed that invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire were exceptions to traditional EENS. So Ad Gentes 7 says all need faith and baptism for salvation but also mention I.I and the BOD as if they are exceptions or relevant to EENS.
So this is a mistake in Vatican Council II(1965) which followed the LOHO(1949) mistake.
The same mistake is there in the Letter of the Holy Office 1949. It is an objective mistake.It was never corrected by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Lionel; When a Catholic interprets Magisterial documents assuming what is invisible is visible and what is unknown is known I call it Cushingism
Today Cushingism has spread through out the Catholic Church like the Arian heresy of the past.

 Divine Providence awakens at the same time the witness of some members of the episcopal college, and also of the faithful, in order to compensate the temporal failures of the Papal Magisterium.
Lionel; There are numerous reports on the Internet calling attention to Cushingism within the Catholic Church.

 One has to say that such a situation is very rare, but not impossible, as Church History has proven. The Church is indeed one single organic body, and when there is a failure and lack in the head of the body (the pope), the rest of the body (the faithful) or eminent parts of the body (the bishops) supplement the temporary Papal failures.
Lionel: Bishop Athanasius Schneider could respond to the many reports on this blog sent to him on this issue over the last six or more years.He has never responded to any of these reports.

 One of the most famous and tragic examples of such a situation occurred during the Arian crisis in the fourth century, when the purity of faith was maintained not so much by the ecclesia docens (pope and episcopate) but by the ecclesia docta (faithful), as Blessed John Henry Newman has stated.
Lionel: He could respond at least to the reports which mention him by name in the head line and are posted on this blog(Eucharist and Mission(Lionel's Blog) this month.

The Church has always taught that even a heretical person, who is automatically excommunicated because of formal heresy, can nevertheless validly administer the sacraments and that a heretic or formally excommunicated priest can in an extreme case exercise even an act of jurisdiction by imparting to a penitent sacramental absolution. 
Lionel: Bishop Athanasius Schneider offers Holy Mass and it is valid even though he uses a false premise to interpret 1) the Creeds, 2) the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus 3) the Catechisms and 4) Vatican Council II.It is the same with the other bishops.

A formal schism, with two or more pretenders to the Papal throne – which will be an inevitable consequence of even a canonically enacted deposition of a pope – will necessarily cause more damage to the Church as a whole than a relatively short and very rare period in which a pope spreads doctrinal errors or heresies. The situation of a heretical pope will always be relatively short in comparison with the two thousand years of the existence of the Church. One has to leave an intervention, in this rare and delicate case, to Divine Providence.
Lionel: Presently both popes and all the cardinals and bishops stand automatically excommunicated according to the traditional teachings of the Church on heresy and mortal sin.Since they have changed the meaning of the Nicene and Apostles Creed and rejected the Athanasius Creed.Bishop Athanasius Schneider is not an exception.

A pope who is spreading obvious theological errors or heresies or helping in the spread of heresies by his actions and omissions should be obligatorily corrected in a fraternal and private form by the Dean of the College of Cardinals.
Lionel: The College of Cardinals is making the same error.

After unsuccessful private corrections, the Dean of the College of Cardinals is obliged to make his correction public.
Lionel: There is no public correction from even Bishop Athanasius Schneider or Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke.
Both of them use the false premise to interpret Vatican Council II , the Creeds and the Catechisms.

At the same time the Dean of the College of Cardinals should publish a formula of a Profession of Faith, in which there would be rejected the theological errors that the pope teaches or tolerates (without necessarily naming the pope).
Lionel: There are two interpretations of the Profession of Faith (Nicene Creed). Mine and every one else's. I avoid the false premise which creates the 'hermeneutic of rupture' with Tradition.

If the Dean of the College of Cardinals should omit or fail to make the correction, the appeal to prayer, and the publication of a Profession of Faith, any cardinal, bishop or a group of bishops should do this and, if even the cardinals and bishops omit or fail to do this, any member of the Catholic faithful or any group of Catholic faithful should do this.
Lionel: Any bishop can do it, including Bishop Athanasius Schneider. The details are all there on this blog Eucharist and Mission.

The Dean of the College of Cardinals or a cardinal, or a bishop or a group of bishops, or a faithful Catholic or a group of Catholic faithful who made the correction, appeal to prayer, and the publication of the Profession of Faith cannot be subjected to any canonical sanctions or penalties or accused of disrespect towards the pope for this reason.
Lionel: The correction has been posted numerous times on this blog over the last few years.

In the same session, the Council of Constance decreed that every newly elected pope had to make an oath of faith, proposing the following formula, from which we quote the most crucial passages:
“I, N., elected pope, with both heart and mouth confess and profess to almighty God, that I will firmly believe and hold the Catholic Faith according to the traditions of the Apostles, of the General Councils and of other Holy Fathers. I will preserve this faith unchanged to the last dot and will confirm, defend and preach it to the point of death and the shedding of my blood, and likewise I will follow and observe in every way the rite handed down of the ecclesiastical sacraments of the Catholic Church.”
Lionel. This formula does not work any more. A clarification has to be made.Since the Catholic Faith is being interpreted today with every one rejecting the Athanasius Creed.
The dogma EENS is not being interpreted like the Early Christians. The Church Fathers did not assume unknown cases were known exceptions to the traditional teaching on exclusive salvation in the Catholic Church.

The Papal oath from the Liber Diurnus Romanorum Pontificum considered as the main obligation and the most distinguished quality of a new pope his unshakeable faithfulness to the Tradition as it was handed down to him by all his predecessors: “Nihil de traditione, quod a probatissimis praedecessoribus meis servatum reperi, diminuere vel mutare, aut aliquam novitatem admittere; sed ferventer, ut vere eorum discipulus et sequipeda, totis viribus meis conatibusque tradita conservare ac venerari.” (“To change nothing of the received Tradition, and nothing thereof I have found before me guarded by my God-pleasing predecessors, to encroach upon, to alter, or to permit any innovation therein; with glowing affection as her truly faithful student and successor, to safeguard reverently the passed-on good, with my whole strength and utmost effort.”)
Lionel: This is contradicted today with the false premise which has come into the Church. The New Theology, based upon the false premise, is used to interpret Vatican Council II, by the popes, the traditionalists, sedevacantists and liberals.

The same Papal oath named, in concrete terms, fidelity to the lex credendi (the Rule of Faith) and to the lex orandi (the Rule of Prayer). With regards to the lex credendi (the Rule of Faith), the text of the oath says:
“Verae fidei rectitudinem, quam Christo autore tradente, per successores tuos atque discipulos, usque ad exiguitatem meam perlatam, in tua sancta Ecclesia reperi, totis conatibus meis, usque ad animam et sanguinem custodire, temporumque difficultates, cum tuo adjutorio, toleranter sufferre.” (“I promise to keep with all my strength, even to the point of death and the shedding of my blood, the integrity of the true faith, whose author is Christ and which through your successors and disciples was handed over up to my humble self, and which I found in your Church. I promise also to bear with patience the difficulties of the time”.)
With regard to the lex orandi the Papal oath says:
“Disciplinam et ritum Ecclesiae, sicut inveni, et a sanctis praecessoribus meis traditum reperi, illibatum custodire.” (“I promise to keep inviolate the discipline and the liturgy of the Church as I have found them and as they were transmitted by my holy predecessors.”)
Lionel: The lex orandi and lex credendi has  been changed. Bishop Schneider offers the old Mass with the new ecclesiology created by the false premise and inference.

The next doctrinal change represents the approval of Pope Francis of the phrase in the Interreligious document of Abu Dhabi of February 4, 2019, which states that the diversity of the sexes together with the diversity of races and the diversity of religions corresponds to the wise will of God. This formulation as such needs an official Papal correction, otherwise it evidently will contradict the First Commandment of the Decalogue and the unmistakable and explicit teaching of Our Lord Jesus Christ, hence contradicting Divine Revelation.
Lionel: The pope has cited Vatican Council II. He interprets the Council with the false premise so there is alleged known salvation outside the Church. Since there is known salvation outside the Church with BOD, BOB and I.I, also for Pope Benedict, Pope Francis assumes non Christians are saved in their religion.They do not need to convert into the Catholic Church.
This is also the interpretation of Vatican Council II with the New Theology, by Bishop Athanasius Schneider and the Lefbvrists.

The more a pope spreads doctrinal ambiguities, errors, or even heresies, the more luminously will shine the pure Catholic Faith of the little ones in the Church: The Faith of innocent children, of religious sisters, the Faith especially of the hidden gems of the Church, the cloistered nuns, the Faith of heroic and virtuous lay faithful from all social conditions, the Faith of individual priests and bishops. This pure flame of Catholic Faith, oftentimes nurtured by sacrifices and expiation acts, will burn more brightly than the cowardice, the infidelity, the spiritual rigidity and blindness of a heretical pope...
Lionel: Catholics affirm the traditional Faith today by going back to Tradition, the saints and the popes.They avoid  Vatican Council II interpreted with the false premise.So the Faith has not been lost.-Lionel Andrades

“The Church of the living God – the pillar and the bulwark of the truth” (1 Tim 3:15) Declaration of the truths relating to some of the most common errors in the life of the Church of our time The Fundamentals of Faith
1. The right meaning of the expressions ‘living tradition,’ ‘living Magisterium,’ ‘hermeneutic of continuity,’ and ‘development of doctrine’ includes the truth that whatever new insights may be expressed regarding the deposit of faith, nevertheless they cannot be contrary to what the Church has always proposed in the same dogma, in the same sense, and in the same meaning (see First Vatican Council, Dei Filius, sess. 3, c. 4: “in eodem dogmate, eodem sensu, eademque sententia”).
Lionel: When the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) and Bishop Athanasius Schneider use a false premise to create a rupture with the past Magisterium of the Church( before the 1930's), on exclusive salvation with no known exceptions, it is not magisterial. The Holy Spirit cannot make an objective mistake by confusing what is invisible as visible and hypothetical as real.It is not magisterial to reach a non traditional conclusion with a false premise. 
If the false premise is not used then there is a 'hermeneutic of continuity'  but with the false premise used by Bishop Athanasius Schneider there is a false 'development of doctrine.'

2. “The meaning of dogmatic formulas remains ever true and constant in the Church, even when it is expressed with greater clarity or more developed. The faithful therefore must shun the opinion, first, that dogmatic formulas (or some category of them) cannot signify truth in a determinate way, but can only offer changeable approximations to it, which to a certain extent distort or alter it; secondly, that these formulas signify the truth only in an indeterminate way, this truth being like a goal that is constantly being sought by means of such approximations. Those who hold such an opinion do not avoid dogmatic relativism and they corrupt the concept of the Church’s infallibility relative to the truth to be taught or held in a determinate way.” (Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Declaration “Mysterium Ecclesiae” in defense of the Catholic doctrine on the Church against certain errors of the present day, 5). Lionel: When unknown cases of the baptism of desire(BOD), baptism of blood(BOB) and invincible ignorance(I.I) are considered known people; known non Catholics saved outside the Church, it is a false premise. This false premise will produce a false inference and contradict the traditional interpretation of the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus ( Cantate Domino, Council of Florence 1441) or the Athanasius Creed on all needing Catholic faith and the baptism of water,  for salvation.
The use of a false premise by traditionalists and liberals is now obsolete.We have found the missing link. We now know what causes the 'hermeneutic of rupture' with Tradition and we can avoid it.
The CDF and Bishop Schneider interpret BOD, BOB and I.I with the false premise. So there are alleged known exceptions to traditional EENS. There are visible exceptions for them to John 3:5. There are exceptions to the Athanasius Creed which is also made obsolete. There is a Vatican Council II with exceptions to EENS instead of a Vatican Council II, without exceptions to EENS etc.
This is a false development of doctrine.It is created with a false  premise and inference.The result is a rupture with Tradition( Syllabus of Errors of Pope Pius IX etc).

3. “The Kingdom of God begun here below in the Church of Christ is not of this world whose form is passing, and its proper growth cannot be confounded with the progress of civilization, of science or of human technology, but it consists in an ever more profound knowledge of the unfathomable riches of Christ, an ever stronger hope in eternal blessings, an ever more ardent response to the love of God, and an ever more generous bestowal of grace and holiness among men. The deep solicitude of the Church, the Spouse of Christ, for the needs of men, for their joys and hopes, their griefs and efforts, is therefore nothing other than her great desire to be present to them, in order to illuminate them with the light of Christ and to gather them all in Him, their only Savior. This solicitude can never mean that the Church conforms herself to the things of this world, or that she lessens the ardor of her longing of her Lord and of the eternal Kingdom” (Paul VI, Apostolic letter Solemni hac liturgia (Credo of the People of God), 27). The opinion is, therefore, erroneous that says that God is glorified principally by the very fact of the progress in the temporal and earthly condition of the human race.
Lionel: When BOD, BOB and I.I are assumed to be known non Catholics saved outside the Catholic Church without faith and baptism, then a rupture is created between Jesus and the Church and Jesus and the Kingdom of God. Dominus Iesus had to address this common problem.
 Today Jesus is projected as the Saviour of the world, it is necessary to believe in Him but the Church is not necessary for salvation. It is not necessary, it is believed, to be a member of the Catholic Church, with faith and baptism for salvation, since there are 'known exceptions'.
This is an error which has not been corrected by Bishop Athanasius Schneider.

4. After the institution of the New and Everlasting Covenant in Jesus Christ, no one may be saved by obedience to the law of Moses alone without faith in Christ as true God and the only Savior of humankind (see Rom 3:28; Gal 2:16).
Lionel : Here is proof of the separation of Jesus and the Church, Jesus and the Kingdom of God.It is not said that all need faith in Christ and also all need to be members of the Catholic Church for salvation.There are known exceptions for Bishop Athanasius Schneider.
He also supports a religious theology of Christian pluralism and is unable to say that belief in Jesus is not enough. He also needs to say that all need to follow the moral law taught by Jesus e.g some Christian communities officially support abortion and homosexual unions. He does not say that belief in Jesus is not enough in all cases and that every one has to follow the moral law on faith, the true faith e.g.the Jehovah Witnesses believe Jesus and St.Michael the Archangel are the same.
So the pagans in North America before Columbus were all oriented to Hell until the missionaries went there.
 Bishop Schneider does not say that all Orthodox Christians and Protestants are on the way to Heaven even though they believe in Jesus outside the Catholic Church.In general they need Catholic faith for salvation.

5. Muslims and others who lack faith in Jesus Christ, God and man, even monotheists, cannot give to God the same adoration as Christians do, that is to say, supernatural worship in Spirit and in Truth (see Jn 4:24; Eph 2:8) of those who have received the Spirit of filial adoption (see Rom 8:15).
Lionel: Are they all oriented to Hell with no known exceptions ? This question is always left unanswered.Since there are known exceptions to EENS for Bishop Schneider.There are exceptions to the Athanasius Creed for Bishop Athanasius Schneider and the CDF.
The Catechism of the Council of Trent contradicts itself and contradicts Tradition for Bishop Schneider.
This catechism mentions, the phrase 'the desiretherof'. it is a reference to a hypothetical and speculative case for me. For Bishop Schneider and the CDF this is an exception to Feeneyite EENS. So they imply that this is a reference to a visible and known person saved outside the Church without faith and the baptism of water. Only in this way 'the desirethereof' can be an exception to EENS.
This was also the error in the Baltimore Catechism. The baptism of desire was placed in the Baptism Section of that catechism.The baptism of desire is not visible like the baptism of water. We cannot administer it to any one.

6. Spiritualities and religions that promote any kind of idolatry or pantheism cannot be considered either as “seeds” or as “fruits” of the Divine Word, since they are deceptions that preclude the evangelization and eternal salvation of their adherents, as it is taught by Holy Scripture: “the god of this world has made blind the minds of those who have not faith, so that the light of the good news of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, might not be shining on them” (2 Cor 4:4).
Lionel:Agreed.

7. True ecumenism intends that non-Catholics should enter that unity which the Catholic Church already indestructibly possesses in virtue of the prayer of Christ, always heard by His Father, “that they may be one” (John 17:11), and which she professes in the Symbol of Faith, “I believe in one Church.” Ecumenism, therefore, may not legitimately have for its goal the establishment of a Church that does not yet exist.
Lionel: So are they all going to Hell in other Christian denominations? This question is always left unanswered since Bishop Athananasius Schneider considers the Letter of the Holy Office 1949 correct. He assumes that there are literal cases of the BOD, BOB and I.I which are known to us,literally, and so they are exceptions to EENS.So EENS according to the missionaries in the 16th century is obsolete for Pope Benedict and the CDF.

8. Hell exists and those who are condemned to hell for any unrepented mortal sin are eternally punished there by Divine justice (see Mt 25:46). Not only fallen angels but also human souls are damned eternally (see 2 Thess 1:9; 2 Pet 3:7). Eternally damned human beings will not be annihilated, since their souls are immortal according to the infallible teaching of the Church (see Fifth Lateran Council, sess. 8).
Lionel: Will all non Catholics go to the fires of Hell since they die without faith and the baptism of water (Ad Gentes 7, Vatican Council II) ?The norm for salvation in the Catholic Church, is faith and baptism. We personally cannot judge in particular cases with our human judgement, only God can know. However the Church inspired by the Holy Spirit tells us that the norm for salvation is faith and baptism. The norm is not the baptism of desire or invincible ignorance.So we can judge, when we meet a non Catholic, that he or she is oriented to Hell, since the Church inspired by the Holy Spirit teaches us this. This is the teaching of Vatican Council II( interpeted rationally). So it is the teaching of the Church today.It is not just a private opinion.

9. The religion born of faith in Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Son of God and the only Savior of humankind, is the only religion positively willed by God. The opinion is, therefore, wrong that says that just as God positively wills the diversity of the male and female sexes and the diversity of nations, so in the same way he also wills the diversity of religions.
Lionel: Agreed.
