BISHOP BERNARD FELLAY COULD ACCEPT VATICAN COUNCIL II IN ACCORD WITH THE SYLLABUS OF ERRORS AND THE DOGMA EXTRA ECCLESIAM NULLA SALUS

The Superior General of the Society of St.Pius X (SSPX) could respond to the Vatican next month by saying that they accept Vatican Council II in accord with the Syllabus of Errors and the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus.

Since they reject the dead being visible to us and being exceptions to the dogma (1) and the Syllabus of Errors,  the Catechism of the Catholic Church  is acceptable in accord with the Syllabus and the dogma on exclusive salvation in only the Catholic Church.

They can seek canonical status knowing that the Council indicates that all non Catholics are oriented to Hell unless they convert into the Catholic Church with Catholic Faith and the baptism of water (Ad Gentes 7, Vatican Council II ) (2), that all the members of Christian communities are also oriented to Hell without Catholic Faith (Ad Gentes 7) and though non Catholics are physically free they have a moral obligation, to enter the Catholic Church (AG 7, extra ecclesiam nulla salus).

They could invite all Catholics including the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Vatican and the Vice President of Ecclesia Dei, Vatican to affirm Vatican Council with its traditional values on other religions, ecumenism and religious liberty.

The SSPX could seek the same privileges granted to the Priestly Fraternity of St.Peter ( FSSP) and the  Institute of the Good Shepherd, however unlike them they could ask permission to freely express their traditional ecclesiology and evangelization.

Since there are no known cases of the dead visible (Lumen Gentium 16) (3) they reject the ‘theology of religions’ and the ‘ecclesiology of communion’ of the Secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith,Vatican, mentioned in two theological papers of the International Theological Commission.

They reject all irrational and non traditional interpretations of Vatican Council II which have no citations from the Council.

They reject a development of doctrine with no reference texts from the Church and which contradicts the Syllabus and the dogma.

They reject Pope Benedict XVI and his Curia’s saying Jews do not have to convert in the present times. It is contrary to Vatican Council II ( Ad Gentes 7), Catechism of the Catholic Church (845,946,1257), (4) Dominus Iesus(20) (5) , Syllabus of Errors of Pope Pius IX,(6) extra ecclesiam nulla salus ( Cantate Domino, Council of Florence 1441) (7) and John 3:5,Mark 16:16..Since this is a first class heresy (contrary to the Nicene Creed (8) a mortal sin, SSPX priests should have the right not to concelebrate Holy Mass with those who hold the heresy of Jews not having to convert in the present times.

1.
For this reason it seems opportune that we reaffirm our faith in the Roman Catholic Church, the unique Church founded by Our Lord Jesus Christ, outside of which there is no salvation nor possibility to find the means leading to salvation; our faith in its monarchical constitution, desired by Our Lord himself, by which the supreme power of government over the universal Church belongs only to the Pope, Vicar of Christ on earth; our faith in the universal Kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Creator of both the natural and the supernatural orders, to Whom every man and every society must submit.-SSPX Chapter Communique.July 19, 2012.

2.
Therefore, all must be converted to Him, made known by the Church's preaching, and all must be incorporated into Him by baptism and into the Church which is His body. For Christ Himself "by stressing in express language the necessity of faith and baptism (cf. Mark 16:16; John 3:5), at the same time confirmed the necessity of the Church, into which men enter by baptism, as by a door.

3.
Those also can attain to salvation who through no fault of their own do not know the Gospel of Christ or His Church, yet sincerely seek God and moved by grace strive by their deeds to do His will as it is known to them through the dictates of conscience

4.
Catechism of the Catholic Church 845 :To reunite all his children, scattered and led astray by sin, the Father willed to call the whole of humanity together into his Son's Church. The Church is the place where humanity must rediscover its unity and salvation. The Church is "the world reconciled." She is that bark which "in the full sail of the Lord's cross, by the breath of the Holy Spirit, navigates safely in this world." According to another image dear to the Church Fathers, she is prefigured by Noah's ark, which alone saves from the flood.

846 How are we to understand this affirmation, often repeated by the Church Fathers? Re-formulated positively, it means that all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body:

Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism as through a door. (emphasis added)
Note: That all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body does not contradict the teaching of the ‘necessity of faith and baptism’ and ‘the necessity of the Church which men enter as through a door’.

Catechism of the Catholic Church 1257: The Lord himself affirms that Baptism is necessary for salvation. He also commands his disciples to proclaim the Gospel to all nations and to baptize them. Baptism is necessary for salvation for those to whom the Gospel has been proclaimed and who have had the possibility of asking for this sacrament. The Church does not know of any means other than Baptism that assures entry into eternal beatitude; this is why she takes care not to neglect the mission she has received from the Lord to see that all who can be baptized are "reborn of water and the Spirit." God has bound salvation to the sacrament of Baptism, but he himself is not bound by his sacraments. (emphasis added).
Note: That God is not bound to the Sacraments does not contradict the necessity of every one with no exception needing the batism of water given to adults with Catholic Faith. We do not know anyone saved without the Sacraments who are an exception to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus or the Syllabus of Errors.

Dominus Iesus 20. From what has been stated above, some points follow that are necessary for theological reflection as it explores the relationship of the Church and the other religions to salvation.

Above all else, it must be firmly believed that “the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and baptism (cf. Mk 16:16; Jn 3:5), and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through baptism as through a door”. This doctrine must not be set against the universal salvific will of God (cf. 1 Tim 2:4); “it is necessary to keep these two truths together, namely, the real possibility of salvation in Christ for all mankind and the necessity of the Church for this salvation”. (emphasis added)

15. Every man is free to embrace and profess that religion which, guided by the light of reason, he shall consider true. -- Allocution "Maxima quidem," June 9, 1862; Damnatio "Multiplices inter," June 10, 1851.

16. Man may, in the observance of any religion whatever, find the way of eternal salvation, and arrive at eternal salvation. -- Encyclical "Qui pluribus," Nov. 9, 1846.

17. Good hope at least is to be entertained of the eternal salvation of all those who are not at all in the true Church of Christ. -- Encyclical "Quanto conficiamur," Aug. 10, 1863, etc.

18. Protestantism is nothing more than another form of the same true Christian religion, in which form it is given to please God equally as in the Catholic Church. -- Encyclical "Noscitis," Dec. 8, 1849.

Extra ecclesiam nulla salus.

8.
I believe in one baptism for the forgiveness of sin.
Note: Non Catholics carry the Original Sin of Adam.

IDENTIFY THE VISIBLE DEAD PROBLEM IN VATICAN COUNCIL II AND CREATE UNITY AMONG ALL SSPX PRIESTS

We acknowledge invincible ignorance etc but they are not exceptions to anything.

Normally there are no exceptions. So Vatican Council II is a traditionalist document since it contains no exceptions to the Syllabus of Errors.

The Society of St.Pius X (SSPX) priests are invited to answer two questions (1) which are being avoided by Cardinal Sean O Malley, the  Archbishop of Boston.

The answer to these two questions can unite all the SSPX priests some of whom are concerned that the SSPX would compromise the Faith with the Vatican.

The two questions have also been asked of Bishop Richard Williamson and his response is awaited.

In the National Catholic Register interview Archbishop Augustine Di Noia, Vice President of  Ecclesia Dei,Vatican  seems to answer these two questions irrationally and non traditionally .The questions however were not directly put to him.(2)

I would invite Fr. Chazal or any other SSPX priest to answer the two questions and send me their views. -Lionel Andrades

1.
1) Do we personally know the dead saved in invincible ignorance, a good conscience (LG 16) etc ?

2) Since we do not know any of these cases, there are no known exceptions to the literal interpretation of the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus ?

2.
How much is a perceived weakening of the dogma extra Ecclesiam nulla salus (no salvation outside the Church) a major part of the problem, as some traditionalists assert? Has today’s understanding of the dogma contradicted its earlier teaching?

I don’t know if you can blame this on the Council so much as the emergence of a theological trend that emphasized the possibility of salvation of non-Christians. But the Church has always affirmed this, and it has never denied it. … [Karl] Rahner had a disastrous effect on this with his “anonymous Christianity.” But the Council does not alter the teaching of the Church.

And yet they argue it does?

This is a very good example of two of the things we’ve mentioned: the danger of reading this as it’s been read by Rahner, instead of in the light of the whole Tradition.
They claim that salvation is hardly proclaimed anymore.

Ralph Martin agrees with that. We do have a crisis, because the Church has been infected with the idea that we don’t have to worry or be anxious or we don’t sufficiently take the mandate to proclaim Christ seriously. But it’s not because of Vatican II, but bad theology. That’s why Dominus Iesus was part of the response to all of that theology of religion. There is no question that the necessity of extra Ecclesiam nulla salus has a long history. But they were talking about heretics, not nonbelievers. That formula addresses the problems of heresies. It has its history.

The Council did say there are elements of grace in other religions, and I don’t think that should be retracted. I’ve seen them, I know them — I’ve met Lutherans and Anglicans who are saints.07/01/2012

(Emphasis added: Noted the archbishop is saying that we know people who are saved with elements of grace in other religions for them to be explicit exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. It's only if these cases are known that they can be exceptions to the tradiitonal teaching.-L.A)

THE VATICAN CANNOT HOLD THE IRRATIONAL VISIBLE DEAD VIEW SO THERE IS HOPE FOR FR. CHAZAL THAT ROME WILL RETURN TO TRADITION ONCE AGAIN

'The papacy must return to the faith and then the Society (SSPX) returns to the papacy said Father Chazal.'I was ordained to follow the Church. It is the truth which causes unity. If authority has the faith then you obey the faith.

'The office of the priesthood is to defend the faith. The highest obedience is to the faith. We are praying that Rome converts and becomes pure white', says Fr. Chazal in War On, Against SSPX-Rome Deal.

Fr. Chazal thinks there cannot be reconciliation in the present time because the doctrinal rift is too wide.

Fr. Chazal like Bishop Richard Williamson assumes that the Faith includes affirming the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus and the Syllabus of Errors which is contradicted by Vatican Council II (LG 16 etc).

Since LG 16 says there can be non Catholics saved who have not had the Gospel preached to them or who follow their conscience, they assume that this is the ordinary means of salvation or that these cases are visible to us and so contradict the dogma and the Syllabus of Pope Pius IX.

Yet no text in Vatican Council II mentions this. The texts acknowledge that non Catholics can be saved who have not had the Gospel preached to them etc but the text does not state that these cases are known to us or are exceptions to the dogma or the Syllabus. The text does not have to state anything since it is obvious that we cannot see those who are dead, for them to be exceptions.

Pope Benedict assumed that the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus was relevant for only the time in the past since he believed, it seems, that those who are saved in invincible ignorance are  known to us. Since they are known to us, for him, they are exceptions to the dogma and the Syllabus.

In other words, we can see the visible dead saved as ‘exceptions’ to the traditional teaching.Since we can see these spectres, ghosts, the dogmatic teachings it was assumed have been replaced.

So there is hope that once this error is identified Rome will come back to Tradition. Since they cannot go on suggesting that we know non Catholics saved who are ‘good and holy’ (Nostra Aetate), as if we can telephone or fax these persons on earth. Neither can they keep saying that conscience is supreme and those with a good conscience (LG 16) can be saved as if these cases are visible to us, we could meet them on the street, and so they contradict the dogma and Syllabus.

So over time Fr. Chazal can make these corrections in the SSPX and see that the bishops and cardinals at the Vatican also understand it.

The SSPX Chapter Communiqué (July 19, 2012) has clarified that there are no exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. So this is a giant step in the uniting all the traditionalists and hopefully bringing Rome back to tradition on this issue, sooner then we think.

Once this error is removed Vatican Council II is no more modernist. It is the liberals and the dissenters who would have to rebel against Vatican Council II.-Lionel Andrades
