Cardinal Müller: Priests ‘Duty-Bound’ to Resist Bishops Demanding Protestant Communion

by Stephen Wynne  •  ChurchMilitant.com  •  December 12, 2018

Says clerics 'rightly disobey' prelates ordering open Communion

ROME (ChurchMilitant.com) - Cardinal Gerhard Müller is speaking out against bishops who order their priests to admit Protestants to Holy Communion.

Müller, former prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, stressed that clerics are duty-bound to refuse such orders, saying they "rightly disobey" bishops who mandate such action.

The cardinal's statements come in the wake of an erroneous pronouncement by German Bp. Felix Genn, head of the diocese of Münster. On Nov. 20, Genn published a pastoral guide featuring new directives, introduced by the German bishops earlier this year, that open the door to Communion for Protestant spouses of Catholics. In the Münster guide, Bp. Genn endorsed the new directives, claiming, "As pastoral caretakers, we do not have the right to allow or deny access to the Eucharist. It is irreconcilable, strictly, to deny Holy Communion."

In a statement provided to LifeSiteNews, Cdl. Müller warned that any prelate propagating heresy subverts his own authority: "Bishops would undermine their authority, were they to demand obedience to violations against the natural moral law and false teachings in doctrinal and moral questions," said Müller. In such cases, he added, "each Catholic, and especially each pastor, is duty-bound — as St. Paul toward St. Peter — to openly 'withstand him to the face, because he was to be blamed.'"

Cardinal Müller reiterated that no priest is bound to obey an order to admit Protestants, or any other non-Catholic, to Holy Communion. Instead, Müller said, his duty is to avoid violating "the sacramentality of the Church."

"Obviously, the former Archbishop of Washington, McCarrick, demanded from seminarians and priests immoral acts by abusing his power in order to reward or punish people," observed Müller. "It would be just as bad if a bishop, by appealing to 'religious obedience,' which the priests and faithful of his diocese owe him, were to demand from them a proclamation and pastoral care that deviates from the 'truth of the Gospels.'"

Holy Communion may only be worthily received by a baptized Christian who stands in full communion with the Catholic Church in her Creed (= doctrine), her Sacraments, and the Pope and bishops.

"Some bishops are liberal," the cardinal noted, "that is to say, lenient and indifferent in the doctrine, yes, nearly relativistic, while they at the same time act in a hyper-authoritarian manner toward orthodox Catholics and can only implement threats and punishments."

Cardinal Müller attributed this doctrinal drift to "the secularization of the Church" — a process, he said, that blinds victims to the encroachment of heresy and undercuts their ability to defend the Faith. He went on to reaffirm that "Holy Communion may only be worthily received by a baptized Christian who stands in full communion with the Catholic Church in her Creed (= doctrine), her Sacraments, and the Pope and bishops."

"The German bishops," Müller continued, "with their handout concerning Communion for Protestant spouses — which has been worked up in a theologically defective manner — clearly overstepped their magisterial competence, as the Congregation for the Faith with the approval of Pope Francis has stated."

"It cannot be left up to the conscience of the Catholic faithful or non-Catholic Christian whether he wishes to receive Holy Communion in the Catholic sense," he added, "or whether, rather, he gives Holy Communion a Lutheran meaning or a humanistic (that is to say that which fosters a sense of community) meaning."

A priest, the cardinal stressed, "is not bound by Divine Law to administer Holy Communion to a non-Catholic, and in any case, he certainly cannot be bound by any episcopal order — purely according to Church law — to commit an act which violates and obfuscates the sacramentality of the Church."

"A bishop who imposes penalties against priests who rightly disobey him in this case," he added, "thereby abuses his apostolic authority in a grave manner and has to answer for it before a higher ecclesial court of the Pope."

Faculty at the Thomas More College of Liberal Arts will not theologically and doctrinally discuss this issue

There is no one on the faculty of the Thomas More College of Liberal Arts who will theologically and doctrinally discuss this issue.

AD GENTES 7,VATICAN COUNCIL II
I have cited Ad Gentes 7 which says all need faith and baptism for salvation. The word 'all' Is used. This would include those who have had the Gospel preached to them and those who have not. If the faculty says only those who know about Jesus and the Church, need to enter, then it is not all.
It would also be a new doctrine. It would mean that the natives in the Americas, before Columbus went there, were already saved before the missionaries arrived.
It would contradict the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus(EENS) which was defined by three Church Councils.Catholic history was Feeneyite.

EXCEPTIONS TO EENS AND AD GENTES 7
The faculty may say that the baptism of desire(BOD), baptism of blood(BOB) and being saved in invincible ignorance(I.I) are exceptions to Ad Gentes 7 and EENS.

Then I would say that they never ever were exceptions. Since they never existed in our human reality. We cannot see someone saved ( or about to be saved) outside the Church. BOD,BOB and I.I can only be hypothetical. This is the way God made it.They cannot be real people. This is something obvious. The popes and saints over the centuries did not consider them exceptions to the dogma EENS. So there really is no known salvation outside the Church.

Similarly, St. Emerentiana, St. Victor, St. Ambrose's friend the Emperor Valentinain, cannot be examples of known salvation outside the Church. There were never exceptions to EENS. The Letter of the Holy Office 1949, which Fr. Karl Rahner sj placed in the Denzinger, made a mistake.

LUMEN GENTIUM 8 NOT AN EXCEPTION TO EENS
The TMC faculty may then cite Lumen Gentium 8 and my answer would still be the same.In 2018 we do not know any one saved with 'elements of sanctification and truth'(LG 8) in other religions. So LG 8 has nothing to do with EENS or AG 7.

Similarly we do not know of anyone saved outside the visible boundaries of the Church, as non Catholics, where the Catholic Church would allegedy subsist (LG 8)
The TMC faculty would then say that this the teaching of the Church, right or wrong, presently; of the popes and cardinals.

CARD.SEAN O'MALLEY VIOLATES THE PRINCIPLE OF NON CONTRADICTION
I would say that if Cardinal Sean O'Mally violates the Principle of Non Contradiction and it still is a violation, even if he is a cardinal. If a pope says that we humans in general can see people saved today in Heaven,  it still is an error.

When Pope Benedict suggests invisible cases of BOD, BOB and I.I are visible exceptions to the dogma EENS he violates the Principle of Non Contradiction, even if he is the pope. A person allegedly saved with the baptism of desire cannot be in Heaven and on earth at the same time.
So Cardinal Sean O'Malley and the ecclesiastics in New England violate the Principle of Non Contradiction when they suggest that there are exceptions to the dogma EENS, implying there are visible cases of BOD, BOB and I.I or there are personally seen and known cases of non Catholics saved with 'elements of sanctification and truth'(LG 8), 'imperfect communion with the Church'(UR 3) etc.

The Holy Hour Challenge

"Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration with exposition needs a great push. People ask me: ‘What will convert America and save the world?’ My answer is prayer. What we need is for every parish to come before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament in holy hours of prayer."
- Saint Teresa of Calcutta -
The 177 Project is bringing an evening of Eucharistic Adoration and music to every diocese in the country this fall and it's all because we want to get more people spending time with Jesus. with everything that's going on in our Church right now, it's so important to remember that the Church isn't build on a priest or a Bishop or even a Pope. It's built on the Eucharist. It's built on Jesus Christ present in a tiny, white Host. To help remind people of that, we're creating a Perpetual Adoration chain to extend from the date our first team member hits the road until the date the last returns home. It's 2,424 hours in all. Will you take an hour and join us in praying for the 177 Project team and our attendees? Will you join us in praying for our Church? Will you join us in praying for our country? To get involved, all you have to do is sign up below. Choose any date and time between September 9th and December 18th. Don't be afraid of the late hours. We need people praying then too!

Adoration in every diocese : About the 177 Project

The 177 Project is an initiative from Adoration Artists designed to help spark a renewal in parishes across the country. We are firm believers in the power of spending time in front of the Eucharist and want to encourage that through a worshipful evening that fosters community within and across parishes. Over the course of three months, more than a dozen of the most talented artists in Catholic music will split up into teams of two and visit all 177 different dioceses within the US - including those in Alaska, Hawaii, and St. Thomas.
Each evening will be centered around a Holy Hour. Upon conclusion of the Holy Hour, attendees will have the chance to enjoy a concert put on by the musicians traveling as part of the 177 Project. During the event, attendees will have opportunities for confession, to pray for others, to hear about the importance of (and even respond to) vocations, to say the rosary, to engage with local and national ministries, and to interact in a variety of other ways.

About Adoration Artists

At Adoration Artists, we believe that music is one of the few things that can be used to deliver Truth to people at all points in their Christian walks - from the nonbeliever to the devout. Through music, we find moments of connection between the created and the Creator that are impossible to find elsewhere. Five hundred years ago, benefactors ensured that talented creatives had the time and means to create and distribute works of art that glorified God. Our goal is to, collectively, once again provide a mechanism for equipping talented Catholic artists so that they can more effectively use their gifts for evangelization both inside and outside of the Church.
Adoration Artists helps these Catholic musicians fulfill their purpose and mission by investing into them and providing them with the resources and exposure they need to take their gifts and turn it into a career. Through Adoration Artists, we are able to do things like:
  • Put on parish events that feature Catholic musicians
  • Create opportunities to open for larger acts already receiving airplay on Christian radio
  • Supply booking, management, and music publishing services
  • Fund the recording of new music
  • Connect our artists with radio promotion

Repost : Bishop Fellay does not realize that he is confused between Feeneyism and Cushingism

Bishop Fellay does not realize that he is confused between Feeneyism and Cushingism

The dogma “Outside the Church there is no salvation” has been changed surreptitiously by confused ideas wrote Bishop Bernard Fellay, Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X(SSPX).1 He does not realize that it is he, who is confused between Cushingism and Feeneyism in the interpretation of the dogma. That same confusion he extends to Vatican Council II.He then makes the same error in the interpretation of the Catechism of Pope Pius X and the Catechism of the Catholic Church(1995).

Feeneyism: It is the old theology and philosophical reaoning which says there are no known exceptions past or present, to the dogma EENS.There are no explicit cases to contradict the traditional interpretation of EENS.

Cushingism: It is the new theology and philosophical reasoning, which assumes there are known exceptions, past and present, to the dogma EENS, on the need for all to formally enter the Church. It assumes that the baptism of desire etc are not hypothetical but objectively known. In principle hypothetical cases are objective in the present times.

So when he interprets invincible ignorance in the Catechism of Pope Pius X he assumes it refers to a visible case and so is an exception to outside the Church no salvation ( Feeneyite).
When I interpret invincible ignorance for example, in the Catechism of Pope Pius X it refers to an invisible case.
For Father Pier Paulo Petrucci, Superior, SSPX, Italy the baptism of desire refers to a visible case. So Vatican Council II has a rupture with the dogma outside the Church there is no salvation( Feeneyite). He is a Cushingite like Bishop Bernard Fellay.
For me Lionel, the baptism of desire and blood with or without the baptism of water in the Catholic Church refers to a physically invisible case. So it cannot be relevant or an exception to the dogma EENS, as it was known to the 16th century missionaries.2
Bishop Bernard Fellay could also clarify that I Lionel Andrades interpret Vatican Council II without an irrational premise and so my conclusion is different from his and the SSPX bishops and priests. It is the same with the dogma EENS.
This is Vatican Council II Feeneyite for me with these diagrams.

Will Bishop Bernard Fellay give up Church teachings to protect the SSPX?

Vatican Council II can be accepted by the SSPX in accord with the dogma extra eccleesiam nulla salus and the Syllabus of Errors. This will be a Vatican Council without  the visible dead theory. It will be the Jewish Left who will oppose this interpretation of Vatican Council. Vatican Council II would be anti Semitic.
At Akita,  Our Lady told the seer that there will come a time when bishops will be against bishops and cardinals against cardinals. At Fatima she said the Faith will be lost (except in Portugal). Rome will lose the Faith, she said, at La Salle.
