The mainstream Catholic Church is expected to turn traditional when it is discovered in general that LG 8, LG 14, LG 16, UR 3, NA 2, GS 22 etc in Vatican Council II refer to hypothetical and invisible cases only and so they never ever were exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus(EENS) and the Athanasius Creed. So there is nothing in Vatican Council II to contradict outside the Church there is no salvation(CCC 846) as it was known to the missionaries in the 16th century.
This would be the basis for catechesis and evangelisation, for example, for the New Catechumenal Way and other lay movements in the Catholic Church.

There would be no theological basis for the terms 'traditionalist' and 'progessivist' since the ecclesiology of the Church would be the same before and after Vatican Council II. There would no more be the slogan, 'development of doctrine' based upon the false premise, which confused what is invisible as being visible. So invisible cases of LG 16 etc are projected as visible examples of salvation outside the Church.Catholics would realize that there are no objective exceptions to the old theology on salvation in the Catholic Church.
Now with the New Theology based upon the false premise(unknown non Catholics saved outside the Church are known) there is a separation between Jesus and the Church.The confusion will end when the false premise and inference are identified, as the cause of the hermeneutic of rupture with the past.
Today the interpretation of Vatican Council II by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and liberals like Cardinal Walter Kasper is obsolete.
For the CDF officials and the liberals who use the false premise, the Nicene Creed says , 'I believe in three or more baptisms for the forgiveness of sins( desire, blood, ignorance etc) and they exclude the baptism of water.So they are also known examples of salvation outside the Church and so exceptions to Feeneyite EENS)'.
If they did not exclude the baptism of water in the Catholic Church the CDF and the liberals would be supporting Feeneyite EENS.

For me the Nicene Creeds says ' I believe in one baptism for the forgiveness of sins' and it refers to the baptism of water in the Catholics Church. It is visible and repeatable.
So our Profession of Faith is different.
The Athanasius Creed says for me all need Catholic faith for salvation. Since there are no exceptions mentioned in Vatican Council II to the Creeds and EENS.
For all of them out there in heresy- land, the Athanasius
Creed is rejected. Since Vatican Council II has objective exceptions, visible exceptions to exclusive salvation in the Catholic Church.
All these differences will end when Catholics realize that Vatican Council II is being interpreted with a false premise. The theological conclusion will be traditional. This will be the only rational option available.So the CDF will have to choose it too.
