Every priest, catechist, altar server, choir member,
scouts and lay person in the parish of Sant Agapito, Rome , when they
interpret Vatican Council II rationally, are saying that all Muslims ( and
other non Catholics) are oriented to Hell without ‘faith and baptism’(AG 7) and
there are no known exceptions. This is the Magisterial teaching of the Catholic
Church on Vatican Council II. It indicates that the prophet Mohammad is lost
for all eternity. This is the conclusion in this parish near Termini, Roma,
where the parish priest Fr. Paolo Boumis interprets LG 8, 14, 15, 16, UR 3, NA
2, GS 22 etc, as being invisible and hypothetical cases in 2024.This is also
how the Muslims and Jews who frequent the parish interpret the Council. It is
common sense for all in the parish.
Catholics and non Catholics in this parish are saying
outside the Church there is no salvation according to Vatican Council II and
the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
According to Nostra
Aetate 4, 'the Church is the new people of God', the Jews are the old people of
God. They are no more the Chosen People. They have rejected the Messiah.
Catholics are the Elect according to Nostra Aetate 4. In Heaven there are only
Catholics. They are there with 'faith and baptism'. Outside the Catholic Church
there is no salvation is the message of Vatican Council II. Jews do not have
faith and baptism and so are oriented to Hell unless they formally convert into
the Catholic Church. This is the teaching of Vatican Council II which was not
mentioned at the inter faith gathering commemorating Nostra Aetate and ignoring
Ad Gentes.
Nostra Aetate does not contradict Ad Gentes 7 ( all
need faith and baptism for salvation) in the following passage.
The Catholic Church rejects nothing that is true
and holy in these religions. She regards with sincere reverence those ways of
conduct and of life, those precepts and teachings which, though differing in
many aspects from the ones she holds and sets forth, nonetheless often reflect
a ray of that Truth which enlightens all men. Indeed, she proclaims, and ever
must proclaim Christ "the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6),
in whom men may find the fullness of religious life, in whom God has reconciled
all things to Himself.(4)- Nostra Aetate
Nostra Aetate recognizes the good things in other
religions. The following passage also does not contradict Ad Gentes 7 and Lumen
Gentium 14. LG 14 is cited in the Catechism of the Catholic Church under the
title Outside the Church there is no salvation.
3. The Church regards with esteem also the Moslems.
They adore the one God, living and subsisting in Himself; merciful and all-
powerful, the Creator of heaven and earth,(5) who has spoken to men; they take
pains to submit wholeheartedly to even His inscrutable decrees, just as
Abraham, with whom the faith of Islam takes pleasure in linking itself,
submitted to God. Though they do not acknowledge Jesus as God, they revere Him
as a prophet. They also honor Mary, His virgin Mother; at times they even call
on her with devotion. In addition, they await the day of judgment when God will
render their deserts to all those who have been raised up from the dead.
Finally, they value the moral life and worship God especially through prayer,
almsgiving and fasting. – Nostra Aetate
The following passage also not
contradict Vatican Council II saying there is exclusive salvation in the
Catholic Church. The Catholic Church is a continuation of the Jewish religion.
. As the sacred
synod searches into the mystery of the Church, it remembers the bond that
spiritually ties the people of the New Covenant to Abraham's stock.
Thus the Church of
Christ acknowledges that, according to God's saving design, the beginnings of
her faith and her election are found already among the Patriarchs, Moses and
the prophets. She professes that all who believe in Christ-Abraham's sons
according to faith (6)-are included in the same Patriarch's call, and likewise
that the salvation of the Church is mysteriously foreshadowed by the chosen
people's exodus from the land of bondage. The Church, therefore, cannot forget
that she received the revelation of the Old Testament through the people with
whom God in His inexpressible mercy concluded the Ancient Covenant. Nor can she
forget that she draws sustenance from the root of that well-cultivated olive
tree onto which have been grafted the wild shoots, the Gentiles.(7) Indeed, the
Church believes that by His cross Christ, Our Peace, reconciled Jews and
Gentiles. making both one in Himself.(8)
The Church keeps
ever in mind the words of the Apostle about his kinsmen: "theirs is the
sonship and the glory and the covenants and the law and the worship and the
promises; theirs are the fathers and from them is the Christ according to the
flesh" (Rom. 9:4-5), the Son of the Virgin Mary. She also recalls that the
Apostles, the Church's main-stay and pillars, as well as most of the early
disciples who proclaimed Christ's Gospel to the world, sprang from the Jewish
people.- Nostra Aetate
Nostra Aetate also does not have any
exceptions for the Catechism of Pope Pius X (24Q, 27Q).
So when I say outside the Church there
is no salvation I am following the whole parish when they interpret Vatican
Council II and other Church documents rationally.
All the Catholic religious communities
in the parish and diocese, would be saying according to Vatican Council II that
Islamism, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism etc are not paths to salvation. Since
according to Vatican Council II there is salvation in only the Catholic Church (Ad
Gentes 7) and this is the norm for salvation which is not contradicted by any
passage in the Council .
Other religions are not paths to
salvation since their members die without Catholic faith and the baptism of
water ( AG 7, LG 14).Membership in the Catholic Church is necessary for
salvation ( AG 7, LG 14, CCC 845,846 etc).
Even Muslims in the parish of Sant
Agapito, who frequent the church, will reach the same conclusion, when Vatican
Council II is interpreted rationally
The Catholic Church is saying today
that outside the Church there is no salvation. This is not only a personal
opinion, only, of mine.
Muslims and Catholics at Sant Agapito do not deny that LG 8,14,1,5,16, UR 3, NA 2, GS 22 etc in Vatican Council II, refer to only hypothetical cases. They do not refer to known people, seen in the flesh, who are saved outside the Church in 1965-2024. - Lionel Andrades

You can’t be a good Catholic and interpret Vatican Council II irrationally. You can’t intentionally interpret Vatican Council II irrationally. You cannot choose to project invisible cases of LG 8,14,15,16, UR 3 etc as being physically visible examples of salvation outside the Catholic Church in 2024 and then say Vatican Council II is a break with the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus (EENS) and the past exclusivist ecclesiology. Vatican Council II is not a break with Tradition when we interpret invisible cases as just being invisible. This is a great discovery. Outside the Catholic Church there is no known salvation.

Fr.Hoffman's political document is false : nowhere does Nostra Aetate say that Jews do not need to convert or that the Jews are still the Chosen People.
