SSPX RECONCILIATION POSSIBLE IN THREE STEPS

The Society of St.Pius X (SSPX) priests in Rome could agree to a three point reconciliation with the Vatican on the subject of 'other religions'. They would agree with Step 1 that there is no implicit salvation visible. They have already agreed on this point. So  no implicit salvation mentioned in Vatican Council II is visible and explicit for us.

On Step 2.they would agree that Lumen Gentium 16 (with invincible ignorance) does not contradict Ad Gentes 7 which says all need faith and baptism for salvation. So in a meeting with Ecclesia Dei there would be an agreement on these two points.

Since there is nothing in Vatican Council II, known to Ecclesia Dei or the SSPX position, which contradicts Ad Gentes 7, the Council does not contradict the traditional teaching on other religions. Both groups can make an announcement of an agreement on this subject.

This means that they both agree Step 3 that Vatican Council II does not contradict the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus.

When Vatican Council II does not contradict extra ecclesiam nulla salus, it does not contradict the traditional teaching on ecumenism.AG 7 indicates Protestants, Pentecostals etc need to enter the Church for salvation. They do not have Catholic Faith.

Once there is an agreement on the subject of 'other religions', religious liberty is not an issue.Dignitatis Humanae refers to religious liberty in a state with a secular Constituion. This de facto situation is accepted by the  SSPX and the Vatican. However since they affirm extra ecclesiam nulla salus they have a moral duty to proclaim the Catholic Faith. DH mentions this, with respect to other religions.

The last SSPX-Vatican secret talks were on failure since Cardinal Luiz Ladaria S.J, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Secretary and Bishop Charles Morerod O.P,were using the dead are visible prmise. This was the basis for their theology of religions, ecclesiology of communion and ecumenism of return.

The SSPX priests in Rome say that the dead who are saved are not visible to us.So there are no known exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. The baptism of desire and invincible ignorance are not exceptions. They are exceptions to nothing. So in three simple steps there could be a reconciliation between the SSPX and the Vatican.-Lionel Andrades
