Members of the medical professions need to be contacted in Rome to discuss the Vatican appeasing Catholic religious communities whose members can allegedly see the deceased in heaven. Salvation is physically visible for communities, including the Vicariate of Rome and many others.They are not medically considered incompetent or irresponsible.Some of them are members of Church-tribunals and decide marriage and other Canon law cases.
For instance how can an Auxiliary bishop of Rome, along with the San Egidio community allege that those saved in invincible ignorance and the baptism of desire are explicit exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus ?
It’s simple. For them, the deceased who are saved and now in Heaven are physically visible. Since they are physically visible they are exceptions to Fr. Leonard Feeney ,the Church Councils, popes and saints saying that every one needs to be a visible member of Church (with faith and baptism) to go to Heaven and avoid Hell.
This facility to see the dead, (recognized by the Italian Medical Association ?), is accepted in the interpretation of many religious texts in the Catholic Church e.g. Catechism of the Catholic Church, Mystici Corporis etc.
For instancE the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus (Cantate Domino, Council of Florence 1441) now has a new caveat applied in 2013 since there are visible exceptions to the dogma. Similarly, Vatican Council II says those saved with a good conscience (LG 16), seeds of the word (AG) etc are physically visible on earth. So the Council is a break with the past for Catholic religious.
Mystici Corporis of Pope Pius XII mentions those who can be saved with an implicit desire and of course for these many good, responsible, medically sound Catholics, implicit desire is explicit and as clear as daylight. This is a phenomenon in the Church after the 1940’s.No secular or medical professional discusses it. It is taken for a fact. It is taken for granted as they say.-Lionel Andrades
