The Catechism of the Catholic Church compares the Church to the Ark of Noah and says all must enter or they will perish.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church (n.845) says the Catholic Church is like the Ark of Noah in which all must enter the avoid the deluge.God the Father wants every one to enter the Church, to be united into the Church (CCC 845).
The Catechism(846) cites Ad Gentes 7 which states all need faith and baptism for salvation.All.
So the Catechism of the Catholic Church (1994) is in harmony with the Catechism of Pope Pius X which says all need to be members of the Catholic Church for salvation.
So this is what the Catholic Church teaches today in the Catechism(1994) and Vatican Council II(AG 7).
All non Catholics will lose their soul if they die outside the Church. There are no known exceptions.None which we humans could know of.
The Catechism of the Council of Trent also says outside the Church there is no salvation quoting Cantate Domino, Council of Florence 1441.
It was St. Thomas Aquinas who also compared the Catholic Church to the Ark of Noah. Along with other saints and the popes, he knew that the baptism of desire, baptism of blood and being saved in invincible ignorance could not be exceptions.Since we cannot know of any one saved in invincible ignorance, the baptism of desire, baptism of blood or elements of sanctification and truth in other religions(LG 8), imperfect communion with the Church (UR 3) etc.-Lionel Andrades
