There was a Cushingite Profession of Faith for Easter yesterday in churches all over the world.Most Catholics interpret the Creed with an irrationality.

Catholic congregations and priests are unaware of a Feeneyite interpretation of the Nicene Creed, in which the false premise is avoided.

 Do you believe in one God,the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth,of all that is, seen and unseen ?

" I do ", I answered in Italian yesterday.The few questions from the Creed which followed were not an issue.

But then came :-

Do you  believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church and acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and look for the resurrection of the dead,and the life of the world to come?

Congregant : I do.

But there are two ways in which this can be understood.

Cushingism : I believe in the one, holy Catholic and apostolic Church which teaches outside the Church there is known salvation.So the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus as it was interpreted over the centuries is contradicted.It is now obsolete.

Feeneyism : I  believe in the one,holy Catholic and apostolic Church which teaches outside the Church there is no known salvation and so the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus, as it was interpreted over the centuries is not contradicted.

Cushingism : I acknowledge more than one known baptism for the forgiveness of sins, they are the baptism of desire, blood, invincible ignorance(LG 16) etc, and they all exclude the baptism of water in the Catholic Church. So they are exceptions to the traditional, centuries old interpretation of the dogma EENS.There is no more one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. Vatican Council II mentions LG 8, UR 3 etc.

Feeneyism : I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and it is only the baptism of water. There are no known cases of the the baptism of desire, blood and invincible ignorance for me in 2019. So there are no known exceptions to EENS.

See the difference. We are in the same Church and on Easter Sunday we made a Profession of Faith which was different. One of the versions was modernism and it is approved by the Vatican and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

The Cushingite version is also the Profession of faith made by Religious  while taking up a new office.

It is recited by cardinals, bishops,diocesan administrators,vicars general, judicial vicars and episcopal Vicars, parish priests, professors of theology and superiors of religious communities and Institutes.
