Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano says that Vatican Council II should be done away with.He is correct in a way since the Council is based upon an objective error. There is an empirical error; an error in observation made by the Council Fathers, and this cannot be the work of the Holy Spirit. This error runs through the Council-text like a theme. It is not magisterial. However the nature of the error is such that when it is detected, it can be avoided and this does not prevent the Council from having the hermeneutic of continuity with extra ecclesiam nulla salus, the Syllabus of Errors of Pope Pius IX and the rest of Tradition. So for me the Council should not be rejected but simply re-interpreted rationally
