So why did Vatican Council II mention salvation outside the Church, when there is no known salvation outside the Church?

So why did Vatican Council II mention salvation outside the Church, when there is no known salvation outside the Church?

A small and influential group of the Council Fathers, followed the mistake in the Letter of the Holy Office 1949 to the Archbishop of Boston. It mistakenly considered unknown cases of being saved with the baptism of desire and in invincible ignorance as being known in real life  and so they became practical exceptions to the traditional strict interpretation of extra ecclesiam nulla salus(EENS) based on John 3:5 and Mark 16:16. The error was not corrected after World War II  by Pope Pius XII and then Pope John XXIII. So two interpretations of EENS emerged, EENS with or without exceptions. The result is that now there are two interpretations of Vatican Council II, one in which the Council ( LG 8, LG 16)  is an exception to EENS and the other with the Council ( LG 8, LG 16, UR 3 etc)  not contradicting Feeneyite EENS.

The Council  Fathers made an objective mistake. They chose the irrational interpretation. So the Council contradicted EENS for them. -Lionel Andrades
