CHURCH NOT RETRACTED OUTSIDE THE CHURCH NO SALVATION

Christo al Mondo (Christ to the world) the journal in the Propaganda Fide Building, Rome in its May-June 1999 English edition has a report, ‘ Church has not Retracted Extra ecclesia nulla salus’.
 The teaching outside the Church there is no salvation’ has not been retracted it states and that Pope John Paul II defended and explained this teaching in a General Audience of May 31,1995, reported in the English Edition of the Vatican journal L’Osservatore Romano June 7,1995.
 The report in Christ to the World further states that ‘Earlier in a General Audience of May 23,1979, he brought out the real damnation of many who could be greatly assisted (and saved) through God’s use of zealous missionaries.It was then that he quoted with obvious approval St.Francis Xavier’s statement: It often comes to mind to run and shout here and there in the academies of Europe and to address those who show more scholarship than charity, with the words, “Oh, how great is the number of souls excluded from heaven through your fault!”that is, through the fault of those who, having a call from God to become missionaries, neglect that call.”
