SEMINARIAN AFFIRMS VATICAN COUNCIL II THAT ALL NEED TO ENTER THE CATHOLIC CHURCH FOR SALVATION

That there is the possibility of non Catholics being saved in invincible ignorance or with the baptism of desire does not negate the teaching everyone with no exception needs to be a member of the Catholic Church for salvation. Everyone with no exception needs to be a visible member of the Catholic Church since those saved with the baptism of desire etc are not exceptions.

Andre a first year theology seminarian at the Gregorian University, Rome was speaking with me yesterday evening at the Church Gran Madre di Dio, Ponte Milvio, Rome. He is a seminarian at the Roman Seminary, the seminary at St.John Lateran. On the video, he spoke in Italian about why Catholic Mission was important and the necessity of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church for the salvation of all people.

He also affirmed the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus, Cantate Domino Council of Florence. I had to remind him however that saved in invincible ignorance or with the baptism of desire are not explicitly known to us. We would not meet any such case on the streets of Rome so it does not affect Catholic Mission. The Church tells us that everyone we meet on the streets needs Catholic Faith and the baptism of water to avoid Hell and go to Heaven.
