Matteo Calisi appeals for all the churches in Rome to remain open for evangelisation

Prof. Matteo Calisi, President of the Catholic Fraternity of Charismatic Covenant Communities and Fellowships yesterday appealed for all the churches in the city to remain open for evangelisation.

He was speaking at the conclusion of the talk of Archbishop Jose Octavio Ruiz at the Basilica Santa Maria Del Popolo yesterday evening.

The Archbishop spoke about Mission being based on an encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist.

Presently many churches are open in the late evenings in the centre of Rome. There is usually a Charismatic Renewal community there at the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

Matteo Calisi too has been organising these prayers with the Charismatic Renewal in Rome’s churches.

Yesterday evening before the Archbishop could speak there was a Charismatic song expressing love and praise for Jesus. It was sung with gestures and animation by the youth of the Abramo community. It was disappointing in that they were facing the congregation and not Jesus present in the tabernacle.

The Charismatic communities at the Basilica of Santa Anastasia, where they have 24 hours exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, encircle Jesus in the Eucharist and conduct their prayers and worship.-Lionel Andrades
