We have Sacred Tradition to measure the actions of a pope and so we can always know what is right and wrong

The Catholic Church is Jesus' Mystical Body in this sense it is Perfect. The Church is Jesus and can never be separated from Jesus.A pope can be in error and in even heresy and a pope can also go for Confession. He can change before death and so avoid Hell.
We have Sacred Tradition to measure the actions of a pope and so we can always know what is right and wrong. The Catholic Faith does not change.Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
So if a pope makes changes in Church teachings on faith and morals, and assumes these values are relative and subjective, then it is possible that another pope may revert to the traditional values. If they are relative and subjective and can change then can also change back to the original.
However the teachings of the Catholic Church never change since objective reality never changes. The way to go to Heaven and avoid Hell is still the same. Mortal sin is still mortal sin. Objective sin is still objective sin and one mortal sin is sufficient to take a soul to Hell even if one believes in Jesus and loves Jesus.Mortal Sin can only receive the forgiveness of God in the Catholic Sacrament of Confession. This was the means of forgiveness chosen by God. This is God's love for those who ask for it, who avail of it.
Our Lady in so many of her apparitions, approved and not approved, prepare us for this time of testing for the Church and for all of us.
She says Satan will enter the church at some of the highest levels and bishops will be against bishops and cardinals will be against cardinals. The Eucharist will be compromised. Those who are faithful to the teachings of the Church will be persecuted. This is a phase that the church must go through in its purification.
Since the Church is Jesus' Mystical Body nothing has changed or can change, in a sense. We know what is right and wrong and we live it inspite of the changes all around us, including within the church, its heirarchy, leaders and practise.
Finally what counts is going to Heaven and avoiding Hell, for oneself-and for others when possible.
So we pick up our cross, even when that cross means persecution from within the Church, from among our friends and religious superiors and leaders.
