We can interpret Vatican Council II with LG 8, LG 14, LG 16, UR 3, NA 2, GS 22 etc as referring to hypothetical cases only so they are not practical exceptions to the strict interpretation of extra ecclesiam nulla salus(EENS). We can also interpret the baptism of desire and invincible ignorance as being hypothetical and speculative always. So they are not practical exceptions to EENS. They are not examples of salvation outside the Catholic Church. So they are not exceptions to EENS as it was known to the missionaries in the 16th century
