Lionel : Michael Sean Winters  interprets Vatican Council II with the common false premise.When he uses the phrase, 'the desire to put the Vatican II toothpaste back into a pre-conciliar tube', it is a give away, not that we need any new sign from the NCR.Without the false premise there is no Vatican Council and pre Conciliar theology.It is the false premise which creates the New Theology.

The New Theology supports the liberalism of the NCR. Without the New Theology the Council can be interpreted in harmony with Feeneyite EENS, the Athansius Creed, the Syllabus of Errors and the Catechism of Pope Pius X ( 24 Q, 27Q).

There cannot be a renewal with the use of a false premise to change the meaning of the Council. When we use a false premise and inference we begin to contradict the sources of Catholic doctrine. We contradict Scripture and the Church Fathers

 Renewal is not reinvention. The council did not plop out of the sky. Since with the false premise we create alleged practical exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus as it was interpreted over the centuries by the Church Fathers and Church Councils. There is a break with the missionaries in the Middle Ages.

Winters can no more claim that the Council has done away with the past. It is the false premise which has done away with the past.Vatican Council can be interpreted without the error. Why should a Catholic interpret Vatican Council II with a false premise and create a rupture with the past -the popes and saints ? This is pre and post Vatican Council theology which the false premise creates and not Vatican Council II in itself

Cardinal Raymond Burke and Archbishop Carlo Vigano still interpret Vatican Council II with the false premise and so they support the traditionalist-progressivist division in the Church.
