Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, Bishop of Albano, Italy, Consultant to the Congregation for the Clergy and the Italian Bishops Conference(IEC) and President of  the Bishops Conference of the Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith, is president of the IEC daily newspaper Avvenire and Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. On 15 October 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.^[6]
