Doctrinally, Pope Francis and Pope Benedict choose the irrational interpretation of Vatican Council II instead of the rational option, so they support the hermeneutic of rupture with Tradition( EENS, Syllabus of Errors etc). They are not magisterial on Vatican Council II. They do not use 'the rational premise', 'the blue hand side column' and 'the red hypothetical passages not being practical exceptions to the blue orthodox passages
