Archbishop Lefebvre made an objective error, his books are obsolete and the SSPX leadership does not comment . SSPX priests say there are no objective cases of LG 8, LG 16 etc in the present times

 

There is a theological flaw in the books of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre and the SSPX  bishops it is the same error found in the writings of Pope Benedict and the popes from Paul VI ( Vatican Council II ) and Pope Pius XII ( Letter of the Holy Office 1949).

 Archbishop Lefebvre’s books are no more relevant in the sense that he confused what is invisible ( LG 8, LG 14, LG 16 etc)  as being visible examples of salvation outside the Church and so supported a liberal and new version of extra ecclesiam nulla salus (EENS), Vatican Council II, Syllabus of Errors etc. Bishop Bernard Fellay as the Superior General of the SSPX repeated the mistake.

Now in Rome the SSPX priests say that there are no objective cases of non Catholics being saved, outside the Church. LG 8, LG 16 etc refer to only hypothetical cases. This is something obvious said Fr. Aldo Rossi, the SSPX Prior, at Albano, Italy. Other priests who offer Holy Mass in Latin at the SSPX St.Catherine of Siena chapel in Rome, agree with Fr. Aldo Rossi.

It is common sense. Only God can know if someone was saved outside the Church. He can judge only if there is an exception to the norm for salvation, which is ‘faith and baptism’(AG 7).But Bishop Bernard Fellay and Fr. Franz Schmidberger over the years would not comment on this subject. While Fr. Davide Pagliarani, as Rector at the SSPX seminary in Rome was teaching the error.For him LG 8, LG 14, LG 16 etc were exceptions for 16^th century extra ecclesiam nulla salus ( with no exceptions).

So the SSPX priests indicate that Archbishop Lefebvre  made an objective error, an in-principle error, an error in observation, an empirical error which influenced his theology.This was not traditional  and it was a rupture between faith and reason. He was violating the Principle of  Non Contradiction of Aristotle by suggesting that he could see people saved outside the Church on earth and in Heaven at the same time.-Lionel Andrades
