It is about
two years since Bishop Athanasius Schneider said that there are no literal
cases of the baptism of desire. He was interviewed by Dr. Taylor Marshal.
Marshall. Marshall confirmed that there are no explicit cases of St. Thomas Aquinas’ implicit
desire.
They both
were saying that Lumen Gentium 14 ( baptism of desire) refers to only
hypothetical cases. There are no objective cases.
They
indicated that LG 8, 14 and 16 were not objective examples of salvation outside
the Church. There are no literal cases.
So they indicated
that LG 8, 14 and 16, .UR 3, NA 2, GS 22 are not practical exceptions for the
Athanasius Creed and the Syllabus of Errors. The Council is not a break with
Tradition.
Yet Bishop
Schneider did not say this in his interview with Eric Sammons for Crisis
magazine. Also in the interview with Steve Bannon he continued to interpret
Vatican Council II with LG 8, 14 and 16 etc being visible exceptions for the
dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. So the Council was still a break with
Tradition for him.
He avoided
being suspended.- Lionel Andrades
