The Benedict priests and Cardinal Arthur Roche offer Holy Mass at the chapel of the Benedictine University of St. Anselm, Rome., while they reject the Syllabus of Errors and the Athanasius Creed since they interpret Vatican Council II irrationally.
The Dean of Theology supports the New Ecumenism with
Vatican Council II interpreted irrationally. If the Council was interpreted
rationally he would have to support the traditional ecclesiology of
St.Benedict.
Now the Benedictines do not deny that they are
offering Holy Mass with new versions of the Nicene Creed. They understand this
Creed as saying, “I believe in three or more baptisms for the forgiveness of
sins. They include known cases of the baptisms of desire, blood, saved with elements of
sanctification and truth in other religions (Lumen Gentium 8), and imperfect
communion with the Church (Unitatis Redintigratio 3), people with goodwill (Gaudium
et Specs 22) etc."
So outside the Church there is known salvation, is their new theology. They are not Feeneyite on extra ecclesiam
nulla salus(EENS). They do not support the Athanasius Creed which says all need to be
Catholic for salvation. They are approved by the political Left.
If the baptism only referred to the baptism of water, as it did over the centuries, then they would be Feeneyite on EENS.They would be expelled. They would be saying like Fr. Leonard Feeney that there are no physically visible cases of the baptism of desire(BOD).This is also the opinion of Fr. Stefano Visintin osb, the former Rector and Dean of Theology, at St. Anselm. This is also the view of Bishop Athanasius Schneider and Dr. Taylor Marshall.
When LG 8, OLG 14, LG 16 etc are interpreted rationally as being only hypothetical cases and not objective people saved outside the Church then the Council does not have any exceptions for the Athanasius Creed. The Council is not a break with Tradition.
Now the Benedictines, with their liberalism created with the irrational premise, also re-interpret the Apostles Creed. For
St.Benedict the Holy Spirit taught the Church that outside the Church there was
no salvation. This was his understanding of the Holy Spirit and the Holy
Catholic Church. It has been changed.
There are also visible cases of the baptism of desire
(LG 14) for the Benedictine Rector and the Dean of Theology. So the Council contradicts
the Catechism of Pope Pius X (24Q, 27Q). For me the Council is not a break with
Tradition.
I believe Vatican Council II is a legitimate Council
and LG 8 etc can be accepted as being only hypothetical cases for us human
beings. We cannot meet or see someone saved with the baptism of desire. We cannot administer the baptism or desire. So the Council has a hermeneutic of continuity with the Athanasius
Creed, the Syllabus of Errors, the dogma EENS and all the Catechisms. It is in
harmony with the theology of the pre-1949 Benedictines.
For me there are no exceptions mentioned in Vatican Council II for the dogma EENS, so there cannot be a theological opening
in the Council-txt for a new ecumenism, which excludes an ecumenism of return
to the Catholic Church. But if the Dean of Theology was rational on Vatican Council II he would be expelled by the Vatican.- Lionel Andrades
