When Pope Francis and Pope Benedict canonised Pope John Paul II and Pope John XXIII all the four popes, are popes who interpreted extra ecclesiam nulla salus with the false premise. They interpreted unknown cases of the baptism of desire, baptism of blood and invincible ignorance as being known and objective exceptions to EENS. So they rejected the strict interpretation of the dogma EENS. They also approved the Letter of the Holy Office 1949 which made this same objective mistake
