Pope John Paul II did not tell the SSPX that Vatican Council II was not an issue. He and the SSPX could simply interpret the Council without the false premise.Vatican Council II and Tradition would then be acceptable and not in conflict.There would be no theological foundation for the New Theology, New Ecumenism etc.

There would be no theological foundation for the New Theology, New Ecumenism etc. Since it would be understood that outside the Catholic Church there was no known salvation.This would be something obvious for Catholics.
