The Angelus Press needs to pull down its books on Vatican Council II and extra eccesiam nulla salus (EENS) since they are obsolete. They were interpreted with a false premise. The same false premise is used by the popes and cardinals today to misinterpret the Church Fathers and the Magisterium of the past.
Angelus Press sells a book which interprets the baptism of desire (BOD), as being exceptions to the traditional strict interpretation of EENS. In other words BOD refers to physically visible and personally known non Catholics saved outside the Church in the present times (1965-2020).Otherwise how could they be exceptions, or even relevant to EENS according to the Patristic period.
So the base premise is wrong and upon the error a new theology is created which says outside the Church there is salvation.
The new book by Fr. Rulleau (former Professor of Dogmatic Theology in Econe, Switzerland) interprets the Church Fathers reference to the BOD, irrationaly. For the SSPX priest there are personally known and physically visible non Catholic saved outside the Church.They are known and they are saved without faith and the baptism of water, otherwise how could they be exceptions to Feeneyite EENS ?.
Similarly he would re interpret the missionaries of the 16th century as referring to a literal case/cases of the baptism of desire.So the missionaries and Magisterium of the 16th century would then be projected as contradicting Feeneyite EENS. Someone in the Middle Ages, would have seen a person saved outside the Church without the baptism of water and instead with a visible baptism of desire.This is the reasoning of Angelus Press.
This is irrationa.It is unethical and non Catholic.
Similarly Fr. Rulleau would interpret Lumen Gentium 14 ( baptism of desire) as being an exception to EENS.This is the reasoning of the International Theological Commission and the popes from Paul VI to Francis.
So the blurb of the book boasts of being in line with 'the Magisterium' ( of the past and present) interpreted irrationally though, and also the Church Fathers, again, interpreted with a false premise to create a rupture with Tradition.
The Church Fathers are in agreement with Fr. Leonard Feeney of Boston when the false premise is not used to interpret the baptism of desire.The baptism of desire is not a practical exception to EENS.
For Fr. Rulleau of the past, and Fr. Jean Marie Gleize at Econe, today, the Athanasius Creed obsolete. They reject the Syllabus of Errors.They interpret the Catechisms as contradicting themselves and contradicting the Creeds and other magisterial documents.They also do not re-interpret Vatican Council II in harmony with Tradition. This is a doctrinal mess. It is official SSPX heresy. The priest should not be allowed to offer Holy Mass with this impediment.-Lionel Andrades
